Free Money?!

My cousin has been paying me to find new users to sign up for these sports betting apps. I get $500 and the new user gets $500. He told me he's using the new user sign-up bonus/promos and betting strategies to make the money but I feel like its more to it. Has anyone heard of this or has nay idea how someone gets at least 1k profit every time?
