One of the true icons of Early Rock that gave us the most lovely love songs, beats, harmonies and smiles.

took me awhile to appreciate The band but he deserves his place on the Mt Rushmore of Rock and Roll Song Writers imo.  When i say Song Writer i mean writing the lyrics, music and being an engineer/ arranger in studio. Like McCartney and George Martin

his window for his penchant for writing great music was short lived, Pet Sounds was his last great Masterpiece but he had that 7 year run in the 60's .

When this song came out, many of us were in Vietnam having left loved ones & wondering if the girlfriends we left were going to be loyal to us.

So the song "God Only Knows" helped explain the feelings we had on love & life. I realized that life was so much more important to me than love & I had to concentrate on staying alive & not worrying if my girl Lori was fucking around on me. 

Tears come to my eyes everytime I hear this song.

BTW...that witch Lori got pregnant from a teammate on my baseball team while I was away. So Ann Margret, Lola Falana & Raquel Welch became my new girlfriends.
