I never tried it but I bought Italian Rosetta Stone for my daughter.

It worked pretty well.

I think you can download them on various bit torrent sites for free or there are cheaper versions from different companies available.

Rosetta Stone is a great product, and I think it is a very effective way of teaching a foreign language. I bought the Dutch version several years ago just to try it out, and I liked it. But without immersing yourself in the culture and being forced to speak nothing but that language, it's going to be tough to become fluent in my opinion. If you were to move to a Spanish speaking country for 6 months or so, I think you would have it down.

As far as Spanish being the dominant language 15-20 years from now, that's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. It's growing but not at that rate.

&#xD;&#xA;This is the one you will need if you want to live in Amsterdam, correct? I wouldn&#x27;t mind studying that one. Holland/amsterdam seems like a wonderful place to live despite being below sea level with Dec 21 2012 still ahead....

Went to Amsterdam a few years back and wanted to get some basics down.  Amsterdam is an absolutely awesome city, not what most people think.  It&#x27;s not just marijuana and prostitutes everywhere.

The spanish translator app on my Droid X is a modern day miracle.  Simply speak english into it, and it converts it into spanish.

But if you want to be fluent you have to be in pressure situations. I learned spanish by havin a hot mexican girlfriend that didn't speak english fluently. So she would force me to speak in spanish in order for her to let me do sexual things to her and with her. Those were the dayz NMH

We (US Americans) should all learn another language. Every where I've been outside this country the native people speak at least 2 languages............we shouldn't be so ignorant.........learn another language. I'm gonna try Spanish........I don't give a shit if I speak it fluently, just need to understand what's being said around me.
