somewhat suprised no one has mentioned "21"
 
The film is inspired by the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team as told in the book Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich
 
not in the "classic" class of Let It Ride or Jimmy Caan's The Gambler BUT a very good movie.
 
also, no love for California Split? it would definately be in my top five "degenerate gambler" comedy movies.

this thread shows they haven't made enough movies about gambling.   don't they know how many degenerates there are out there?
 
i loved casino but i don't really think about it as a gambling movie.  the color of money was probably my favorite about gambling.

No one has mentioned CROUPIER. This is easily one of the best casino films out there. It stars Clive Owen and was made by Mike Hodges(Flash Gordon). I suggest that you all check it out!

Haha, that would be the one! It has a few good parts in the movie. Like NJdevils said, the ending is pretty lame. But there's not a movie like it really. Even if it doesn't get your 2 thumbs up!

21 was completely and totally horrible in my opinion.

I think 21 could have been better...had trouble taking Kevin Spacey serious. And it seemed that everytime the deck was "hot" he'd NEVER lose a hand.

on the other side of the coin...how about the worst gambling movie of all time...
 
that award easily goes to bookies. very cheesy, where kids try to get local college team to shave. then find themselves unsure whether the other local book paid them off higher. very public movie about gaming.
 
best of all time goes to...HIGH ROLLER:Stu Ungar Story.

Just watched "Bookies" as previously mentioned...I enjoyed it, wouldn't say it is one of the best though...my vote goes to Rounders!

Bookies is the one in college correct? Pretty bad movie lol but if your a gambler you get some sort of rush which makes it decent.. Budget couldnt of been much at all.

Croupier is great. One of my favorites, a lot of great scenes in the casino. Croupier is the kinda movie you can watch many times and never get sick of it. Same with The Cooler.
