Are these "charge back" people for real?

So someone please explain something to me... I just read on another site, a guy was playing online and lost a bunch and just decided to "charge-back" the deposits he made? I'm assuming that means he told the credit card companies he didn't make the purchases? People really do this?

He didn't say... But someone responded and said he lost up to about 5k on various cards and did the same thing... Wtf? How does that even happen

I don't find it unbelievable at all.  It amounts to the same thing as stiffing a local bookie...

I think the credit card company stiffs the book, so the credit card company isn't out any money.  Could be wrong about that though...

And the book shouldn't be taking the deposit, so they can't really pursue the matter.

5k on various cards is not much. He would have to report his cards are stolen. Now if he tries this ever again it would raise some red flags and he might get nailed for it.

So basically you can use a credit card. Deposit a couple hundred dollars. If you win, great. You lose and you can just tell your credit card company you didn't make that transaction? That's insane to me. I don't know

You can do it one time. After that the CC company will need your OK to approve any further transaction involving that company or others which fit their parameters. Give them the OK next time, and you have no recourse other than a drastically reduced credit limit and a red flag credit rating.

But does the book get the money. I doubt it but how long does it take? What I mean, does the book have the money or the credit company.

Also I agree with Jarrett. I bet Philly Kid just ran up his credit cards and is hoping not to pay it.

this aggravates me . simply stating you take my money if you won but not pay me if i win. either bet or dont pay the man if you lose take the win . but to bet lose and then welch is one of the biggest bad moves to make, 
if you cant afford the loss then dont make the wager.

it as simple as it gets 
their is no maybe it ok if  grey 
then some does it my advice never bet again
but 3 4 times just block that noise....
i wouldnt bet a grain of sand against your bet of a $$$million$$$ unless i just wanted to remove sand from yard for free.
