To having the national guard or military being used for natural disaster .....I can't think of any other then the possible erosion of the Posse Comitatus

in the old days you didn't have to 35 mods 800 hours of training and practically be free and accepted 5th th degree to voluteer to fight fires .........
the track record of fema in any natural disaster is poor to gross incompetence. ....
about the only agencies that could face the impeding disasters of our nation is facing are the military.

How about every American contributing a mandatory 30 day part time volunteer work by age 18 that contributes to our society?
Govt spends a hundreds of millions of dollars to recruit and keep reserves trained. They cannot budget a pass and locate manpower away from tank drills, helicopter drills, rifle training, bomb exploding, sandbox weekends.
This country is selfish. Nobody (civilian), is required to do anything to benefit this nation.

If you are a democrat it is a great idea... more big government reliance.
Problem is that when you depend on the Federal Government for emergency help, you get the wrong stuff and too late. Ask anybody that has been through a hurricane.
On a smaller scale how would you prefer to defend your home from an intruder? Call 911 or shoot him yourself? Same difference.
Short answer - everything is wrong with it.
