New commish comes out firing telling all he will never reinstate Pete Rose.

Stupid. If the baseball hof cannot find room for arguably the very best player it is just stupid. There are countless players known to be criminals, wife beaters, womanizers, gamblers, drinkers, and gansters. They cannot find room for a guy that bet on his team (never against).

Why is the MLB so sensitive to the gambling thing? Well back in the day, a bunch of White Sox threw the WS. If you study the history, you know they did so as a protest to the abusive conditions. They were not paid at all for the revenue they created, and they were suseptible for this. Modern athletes would never sacrifice that, and the economics would never allow it.

So MLB was shamed a long time ago. They had egg on their face. So they make this decree about gambling on the game. That was an empotional reaction to their own support of a system that kept the players salaries down.

So in 2015 we have a new commishioner that takes a rifle shot at Pete Rose regarding the HOF. He is a child. This is an MLB problem and not ours. They should grow up.

Same goes for any HOF...

And now we have steroid users in the hof and many more coming... some say put an asterisk - whatever.

Again, to anybody that has studied the history, they know that MLB was completely complicate in this whole scenario, and they should acknowledge it as so. Owners and the commish were at the forefront of keeping this story buried for years.

I wonder if he had some reds players n himself on his fanduel or draft kings lineup he will be a first ballot hall of famer and a spokesperson for the hall of fame. A joke how MLb n all other pro sports fully back n promote these two gambling sites yet they treat Pete rose as a complete blackball. Terrible .

Manfred could only reinstate him to baseball. He has no bearing on the Hall of Fame. They could vote him in now if he was on the ballot. Granted reinstatement to baseball would have greatly helped him getting into HOF. He could also have been reinstated and the HOF still could have said we don't want you in.

Either way, I'm not much for HOF's in any sports.

I am wrong.  Seeing as Rose is on the permanent ineligible list for baseball, he is also ineligible for the Hall because of that.  Rule was established in 1991.
