You have got to take the falling dollar into account as well.
Please read The Revolution: a Manifesto by Ron Paul.
You will understand what is truly going on here and what must be done to change it.

167 pages you won't regret reading.

    Not so fast.

We had a movement in this country last time OPEC tried to muscle us, then Reagan tore it apart and we pretty much did zippo to prepare even though it was warned for decades that eventually we would need to either increase supply or create alternatives.

This isnt the environmentalists fault, we can find other sources or more supply and still not destroy the environment.

We have made choices over the last 15 yrs or so and now we are living with the consequences of those decisions.

    Chops,

If we had developed technology over the last 20 years we would be further along.

To give a twist..you could get solar panels and charge the car that way.

Solar panels and electric cars usage would drop oil prices faster than you would ever believe.

    Moneyshot,

Our congress hasnt seen the value in investing for a problem that isnt right in front of their face. Add that 20 yrs of leadership are with people who didnt feel it necessary (Bush I and II and Reagan).

In other countries there are subsidies and investments, here we will give money to farmers for ethanol, subsidize oil companies, tax Brasilian ethanol, subsidize big automakers, but we pinch pennies for solar and alt-energy investment.

the big oil companies have stood in the way of any new advancing technologies. If someone has a great idea they are paid to go away or they just disappear. And Congress is totally complicit in this as they take money from the oil lobbies, so it's easy to see why nothing is on the horizon. The car companies are slowly adding Hybrids into the market, but they want to be in control of this because they want all of the potential profits. It's Greed all around and now we have to pay the price.

Sorry dude but there are 2 absolute bullshit statements in your post.

#1 $12 per gallon gas would completely shut down the economy and leave millions of barrels of oil unbought...which equals no profits for oil companies.  They would never let that happen.

#2 How can we be using more oil than what is being produced??  Is gas being rationed??  I have no problem getting a gallon of gas ANYWHERE in the world where gas is sold.  There is no supply problem, just a large demand therefore oil companies can ask whatever they wish.

Actually if you go against what those retards on CNBC say then you will profit more than the overall market.

Those dopes will say anything to get you to watch, put anyone on who will get you to watch.

CNBC is powder sugar for market junkies who are too stupid to know it isnt cocaine.

Wallstreet, I totally disagree with you on this one.  Demand for oil hasnt increased this much in the last 45 dyas around the world to cause these increase in prices.  In the last 5 years the price of oil never rose as much as its risen in just the last 45 days.  On top of that demand should be down because of people using less gas themselves.  This has nothing but scam written all over it.  These oil company pricks are just out and out robbing us now.  Why are the oil company profit margins getting bigger?  If the price of oil is increasing from the oil countries, then profit margins shouldnt be increasing.  Friggin crooks.

    cd,

You are forgetting the real point.

The supplier of oil is an ologopoly, they control supply, or enough that can dictate pricing.

As long as the market bulls/momentum players see that we are doing nothing to challenge OPEC, then we will see higher prices.

Keep in mind that many here do not understand the global story, China, India etc are DRINKING oil, they are huge users of oil and they are why the global supply is so low.

Also the sniffing of an Iran battle with Isreal will take oil MUCH MUCH higher.

We must look at the supply and demand equation and either change it or keep being a slave to it.

Its Econ 101 and nothing else. Stop blaming domestic oil producers and refiners and start looking at how we can solve the problem.

exactly.   The oil companies will not embrace any new things until every last drop of oil is sucked from this planet.  Why pay for building new things when we still have plenty of oil left to use.  When oil truly starts to run out then you will see all this corrupt companies come out with the new technologies. How much money is enough for these crooks? how many houses, cars, planes etc etc do they really need?    The politicians dont give a crap because they are all bought and paid for, so we cant get help from them.  They sit around pretending to care, but truth is they dont give a shit.  We all pay for their fuel consumption anyways.

Wallstreet, if opec are the ones who are infalting the prices then something needs to be done to stop that.  But also oil companies profit margins shouldnt be increasing.  They are using these price increases, to also increase their own profit margins. Even thou they are a business that is out to make money, they shouldnt be taking advantage of whats happening, thats just not right.  They make enough money to sustain all their familes for hundreds of years.  Its sad but are govt will never jump in and do anything about this because they are all in bed together.

In the last 45 days demand for oil around the world has not increased to justify these price increases.   Also these paper traders need to be dealt with.  Make their asses have to actually take delievery of the oil, not just paper.  That would sure help to slow down wallstreet from helping to increase the prices.  Am a believer that prices of everything always have to go up, am just not a believer of things like oil going up this much, when there really is no supply shortage.
