Haven't yet got around to doing any sort of write for that Saints-Raiders game from last night. Probably put a few thoughts together tomorrow from it and the Jets-Giants tonight.

I'm a little bias being a giant fan and all, but I've been really liked what I've seen from Jacobs so far. From everything I've been reading, it is going to be close to a 50/50 split with Bradshaw this year. Jacobs should be a nice bargain based on his ADP at the moment

    Why would you do that?

I see people do that and claim it's so they can trade that player for a lot to someone that needs a QB but it never works out like that. Why draft a player just to trade him?

blstuart: I have my first draft tonight (12 team PPR league; played PPR for 1st time last season).  Who would you take at #4 if Rice is gone?  I'm leaning McCoy; had him last year and he actually outscored Peterson, Rice and Charles.  You have good insight and I seem to be on the same page as you so would like your opinion on that.  If Rice is there, I'm going to grab him because I think he increases from last year but if he is gone I'm leaning McCoy.

Probably too late responding here, but McCoy all the way. I have the 5th pick in a PPR on Sunday and am hoping he falls to me.

Sorry, really late getting to write-ups for the Sunday and Monday night games. Have my 3 major fantasy drafts coming up this week and weekend so I’ve had to spend some time finalizing my rankings.

    Saints-Raiders:

Mark Ingram got all of the work on the Saints first series, including the 1 yard TD. Pierre Thomas got all of the work on the Saints second series, including the 1 yard TD. It’s obvious by this point that a 50/50 split is likely coming, but the thought’s been that Ingram will get all the GL work. If they’re going to truly rotate series though, then things change.

Jimmy Graham’s 6 first half targets is worth taking note, but he was already being over drafted. This won’t help.

Where the hell did this Derek Hagan performance come from? Six grabs for 121 yards and a TD, with all but one of those grabs coming in the first half while playing while Jason Campbell. I guess someone has to catch some passes in Oakland this year. Why not Hagan?

    Jets-Giant:

Brandon Jacobs looked good again, picking up 51 yards on his 10 carries. While Bradshaw will handle passing down work, I expect the 2 backs to split carries fairly even.

Eli Manning hasn’t played well in the preseason and Monday was no exception, as he completed only 50% of his 30 passes and threw 2 picks. Until he can cut down on the interceptions, which may never happen, I will never see him as anything more than a high end QB2.

I liked seeing Plaxico Burress targeted 4 times in a just over a half, but it would’ve been nice to see him actually catch one.

The more I see Mark Sanchez the more I become convinced he’ll never be anything more than an average QB at best.

Don’t know if I’ll do write-ups for the final preseason games since we usually see so little of the starters. I guess that could change this year though since guys didn’t get OTAs and mini camps. So if anything important does happen fantasy wise then I’ll try to give a few quick thoughts.

Thanks for the response.  I live in cali so 2 more hours until draft starts.  What is your top 5 for PPR?  The 3 guys drafting before me are unpredictable so almost anyone could be there.

    1) Rice
    2) Foster
    3) Peterson
    4) McCoy
    5) Charles or C. Johnson: both guys scare me; could think about a WR here but I'd have a hard time doing it. Little worried about what I do at pick 5 on Sunday if those top 4 guys are gone.

are you still planning on unleashing your final rankings?  This info is awesome as I got thrown into a league yesterday and haven't had the chance to study at all.  Your rankings and all your work in this thread are greatly appreciated!!

not saying I disagree, but what is the reasoning having romo ahead of rivers? I'm facing this decision in an upcoming draft and would like to hear your insight, thanks

One of the only things I disagree with on the rankings.  I would never draft Romo ahead of Rivers... EVER!  I like Romo this year because you can get him a round or two later in most drafts but wouldn't take him before Rivers is off the board.  Thanks for updating the rankings blstuart.  Got my first regular draft tonight and the BIG one coming up on monday.

Yea I'm seeing rivers ranked higher, and have him rated slightly higher atm in my rankings. I love the weapons around romo and would gladly take him a round later in my upcoming draft if he is available

Blount is a player I probably won't have on any of my teams based on where I'm seeing him in some of these rankings. I'd prefer to wait another round and grab deangelo, greene or best, and grab another high end WR2 like marshall or d-jax

I'm a little worried about Blount as well. 29 yards on 14 carries this preseason

agreed. That whole tier 5 RB group is tough to figure out. Wells and hightower don't have much competition for carries, but I'm not sure I can trust them as my RB2 at the moment. I think Best has the best chance to emerge as a high end RB2 this season from that group

I'm not alone here, but know I'm definitely in the minority with this thinking.
I guess maybe more of a gut feeling than anything concrete I can point at.
Romo was the slightly better fantasy QB in 2009 and his average points per game last year were just short of Rivers.
Don't think there's a right or wrong answer. Can't fault anyone for taking either.

On an unrelated side note, everytime I look at Rivers I think "what a whiney little bitch."
My hatred of him started in his last game at NC St when he ass raped my Jayhawks in the Tangerine Bowl. After he'd thrown about 4 TDs, they showed him on the side line and he was literally laughing and pointing to his receivers asking who wanted to catch the next one.
