Goes to show what the numbers mean. Brendan Ryan is better than everyone he mentioned too. Not sure what that "means" exactly.

The thing is that WAR, I believe, it brings defense into account as if all defenders were equal. Some shit like that. And you just can't do that. If you have a knuckleballer on the mound, Gardner may steal while Jeter singles on the hit and run.
Or the shift is on and Ortiz lays down a bunt.
You CAN'T ASSUME that all defense is the same because it's not and players try to hit according to the situation. Pull the ball or hit it to the opposite field. That's why I don't like this sabermetric shit.
