I hate to bring up the subjest but I wanted to bring to your attention the action of backersbackers in todays NBA thread. I have noticed that he has some vendetta against some of the other members. IMO he has broker rules 2, 5 and 8. ie. He as slandered other people without proof, he continues to make no contribution to the thread about the game, and is continuously attacking other members. Finally, he seem to think that he is the moderator breaking rules when he wants while he threatens others about there actions if they don't comply as he did yesterday in the NBA thread. I was under the impression only you had the authority to do these thing. I just really believe that he is not acting in the spirit of the mission statement by these actions. Thank you for your time

Thanks for the input. The Penalty Box is the one section of the Forum where bashing is permitted, the user you are speaking of was actually banned for fraudulent activity.

I'm not really trying to take sides on the matter, all I know is that I'm getting really tired of seeing goinggone and packersbacker fill up every single basketball thread with trash talk, particularly droning on about the late CK... I know all the newbies should just drop it about him, but goinggone and packersbacker just refuse to be mature enough to leave it alone, move on, and make relevant posts, which as senior members, I feel they should be big enough to do. Thanks for your time, this is probably all I have to say on the issue, just wanted to weigh in while the opportunity presented itself.

I don't see how it's anyone's business if someone wants to post a third party's picks, and I feel that packersbackers has waaaay too much emotion invested in getting and keeping CK off the site, for whatever reason. I understand he should not be back under an alias and fully support that rule. The threads without him were moving just fine; they were focused and on topic. However, the minute someone so much as mentions CK or Stylistic, packerbackers invades and starts demeaning other members, using derogatory language to attack those who wish to discuss different opinions about the game itself. IMO the board runs just fine, but for packersbackers' continued interest in and devotion to this moot and stale subject.
I am 100% behind the user's freedom of speech, but I think it has gotten to a point where he just comes into threads and uses any comment he can to start frivolous arguments with users, detracting from the purpose of the thread, which is obviously to cap games. I would direct your attention to last night's Det-Bos thread, where a user mentioned a pick from a third party and packersbackers immedietaly took it upon himself to chagrin another member for mentioning a banned member's name. How is this on topic? More importantly, why is it any of packersbackers business?
I completely understand that the CT can't just arbitrarily box members. However, if the mods could keep a closer eye on certain users such as packersbackers that tend to degrade and attack others merely because they mention people they might have a personal disdain for, it would be much appreciated by me, and I am sure, many others. A majority of us would like the threads to remain about wagering analysis, not petty squabbles about whether or not certain members are overstepping their bounds or violating the "spirit" of the Manifesto.

There is no doubt they have a right to watch out for members like CK. I am in no way condoning what he did, and I think the fact he is creating alias after alias seriously undermines his credibility. Half the time someone says something in the threads I have no idea who is saying it, whether it's a newbie or a veteran posting under a different identity.
That being said, I would have to agree with Wasa that the place to report such behavior is in the help forum. Actually, I think this is a surprisingly fair and productive alternative. If PB and others were to monitor the threads without engaging in discussion with other posters, I think the current problem in the boards would be negligible. Instead of going into the threads looking to pick fights, why not have theses members report any issues to the CT directly? This way, the matter can be addressed and we can avoid all the unnecessary name calling that goes back and forth and detracts from the purpose of the thread.
It seems to me that this approach would adequately address both problems: 1) PB can rest assured he is doing his best to maintain order on the board; and 2) PB is prevented from detracting from the game threads by offering his opinions and criticisms of past members, or current members who are referring to past members.
