Mailbox question

Why can people send mail to me, posters I do not have them as a friend, and then when I go to reply, it says they must accept me as a friend first? How were they able to send me mail in the first place if that is the rule for replies?

Hello,

If you go to your Inbox, then click on Settings, you will see an option under General Settings to "Receive private messages only from my Covers friends list". If you check off that box, users who are not on your friends list will be unable to send you messages.
