This opening line is a joke. My peeps we're suggesting an opener of -15to -18 to me. I'm alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll in, on my side.

first, bigeiii... like getting your take on VT games, because you have some good inside info... but whoever your peeps are that told you the line on this game should be 15-18 need to lay off the herbs...
second, this game pisses me off! these are both teams i was looking to bet ON in a bowl game, and putting them against each other sucks...
third, one trend to follow in bowl games is teams with hot QBs tend to excel... KU fits that bill more than VT...
i would agree VT is the better team here, and will probably bet on them... but damn! this could not be a less favorable matchup for the VT offense... KU is vulnerable against the pass, but not at all vulnerable against the run... so what does that mean? i have to actually hope to see Sean Glennon in the game? the VT offense is not exactly a unit that scores fast and in bunches... how many points will they have to score for me to feel comfortable laying 3.5? and can they do it?
i do like the special teams matchup for VT A LOT! but wouldn't be thrilled about depending on that matchup to get me the cover...
like i said, this game pisses me off! that KU offense is exactly the kind of unit you want to have your money on in a bowl game...

KU will get pasted in this game. They've only beaten one team above .500 (TAMU), and had a cream-puff Big-12 schedule (no OU, no UT). Unless VTech players just aren't into the game, I see them winning by AT LEAST two TD's.

GoG, WADR.....I'm not sure you've kept abreast of Tech's scoring output recently.
In the last 4 games the Hokies have averaged37.5 ppg.
In the last 5 games, it's 35.4ppg.
Their last 5 games were also their 'toughest games' of the season btw (other than those Bayou Bengals, of cuss) and they've come many miles & games (11 of them) since that time.... and are now playing their 'best ball of the season' --even discounting the fact that "several of their key players" have been injured thruout that same period (last 5 games) as well.
Their "winning margin" in those games has been:
Last 4 games = 18.7 ppg
Last 5 games = 19.8 ppg
When you add in the stellar Hokie DEFENSE, that's pretty golden ----- as they're only allowing 15.5 ppg on average for the entire season, which happens to place them 2nd.... in the NCAA nation this year.
KU's point production has come against teams with much inferior defenses on average, IMO..... than the Hokies.
Having said that, KU most certainly has a fine overall team, an outstanding QB, and are an exciting and fun team to watch, I'll give you that much. I certainly don't mean to belittle them at all. I just think that they're stepping up 'a mite' in quality, by playing Tech.
It should be an interesting game, with few dull moments. Best of luck to you my friend

This is by far my biggest play of the bowl games, have 10 units already on VT -3 and will probably add more by gametime and in game. Kansas is just plain over matched. They have played a total of one decent team the entire year and got pounded (don't let the score fool you, Mizzou dominated). VT should win by at least 10 points by I think it could get much more one sided than that. Only way VT doesn't dominate is if they come out flat and unmotivated because they have to play a no name school and really have nothing to gain other than being able to claim they are Orange Bowl Champs.

For anyone that might question Blackjack's credibility in posting on VaTech, simply click on his avitar and view recent posts....I'm a witness....I was leaning heavy on them last week and his advice/posts "sealed the deal' ...
Thanks again for your insights my friend, because that play on VT last week made me some dinero (5 units)....Glad to read your post on VT's bowl game.... Best of Luck

blackjack... you know i follow VT and have for years... but we both know VT isn't an offensive juggernaut this year... those point totals have involved quite a few returns and points set up by TOs... and Kansas hasn't been a team that is careless with the ball on offense... i think it is tough to ignore the bad matchup for techs offense...
not saying they can't score points... just wish they were playing a team with a weaker run D...

'Experience' should - and usually does.... stand tall in these bowl games. I don't know how long it has been since KU went bowling, or how many they've been to, over the years -- but this is 15 (fifteen) years in a row for the Hokies.
Will KU be awed or distracted by the pagentry and goings-on? Many teams are, that aren't use to it all.
Will they act like they've been there before? Just curious. VT's twenty+ seniors have been to 4 in a row, and know the deal.
That should be worth 3 points in itself.
GoG.... you're right, Tech hasn't been an offensive juggernaut for most of the year, far from it, as a matter of fact. But they haven't had to be, with their defense and special teams play. In addition, they've pretty much come on toward the end, and starting peaking at the right time, and everyone (except our TE Wheeler ) should be healthy and raring to go,
Lord willing and the creeks don't riz.
I expect a good game, an exciting and clean, fun game -- with hopefully the Hokies having the higher number on the scoreboard when it's all over.

Absolutely a no brainer here. Besides the fact that VT is playing well right now, Kansas has no business in a BCS game period and will get ANNIHILATED here. kuku1 has a point that with all the public going with VT and when the public all goes one way it is usually wrong, but I don't see that as a problem here. Virginia Tech 35 Kansas 7. Good luck to those who think differently.

Update - Kansas hasn't been to a 'major' bowl game since 1968, almost 40 years, I think I have that right.
What does this mean? Only God knows for certain, I surely don't.
But one thing I do know, experience (as mentioned above) should count for something here. And not only has VT been to several 'major' bowls fairly recently, they've already played in the Orange Bowl THIS year, and are very familiar with it.
