Here's something I posted in my week 1 trends thread that would apply here;
Each of the last 3 seasons has seen at least 1 team favored by 14 points or more lose SU on opening weekend.
09' ~ Ball State -16 lost to North Texas 20-10 and Oklahoma -23 lost to BYU 14 -13.
08' ~ Texas A&M -18 lost to Arkansas St.18-14 and Pitt -14 lost to Bowling Green 27-17.
07' ~ Minnesota -14 lost to Bowling Green 32-31.
09' also saw Colorado -12 1/2 lose to Colorado St. 23-17 and UTEP -12 lose to Buffalo 23-17.
a) The MAC has won as DD dogs in each of the last 3 years.
b) The Sunbelt has won as a 16+ point dog in each of the last 2 years.
c) The BigXII has been the victim of an upset as a 14+ favorite in each of the last 3 years.
What does this all mean? Probably nothing but if one or more of these trends continue this is what to look for;
a) Bowling Green has won as a 14 point dog twice and this year they are again getting 14 when they visit Troy. If the Falcons can't continue the MAC streak maybe Toledo (+14 1/2) can when they host Arizona.
b) The Sunbelt will try to keep their DD dog streak alive when FAU (+12) travels to UAB.
c) Missouri (-14 vs. Illinois),Oklahoma St. (-14 vs. Wash.St.),Colorado (-13 1/2 vs. Colorado St.),and Texas Tech (-13 vs. SMU) will all try to avoid being the next BIGXII team to lose as a large favorite in the opening week of the season.
The other DD dogs that will be trying to pull the upset in week 1 are Purdue +10 1/2 at Notre Dame, Oregon State +13 at TCU,and S.Miss.+13 1/2 at South Carolina.

Oregon St wins straight up. Rodger brothers were on radio here in Houston last week and said they are coming back home to win that game. Not one D1 school in Texas offered either one a scholarship. They will play their hearts out.
