    Shiek-

That would be more true in the past but Bama can be thrown on this year- LSU is good but not great- If Ole Miss was healthy I think they matchup better with their speed - I think the SEC defenses are way down this year although Florida could be special- but it is still too early and I have only seen them play once so my opinion on them isn't the best- I am more interested in A&M as they could quietly move on up if that defense is as good as I think it might be-

    Urban-

    Thanks for the link! Interesting

Why did Utah jump so high?  I know they blew out a BAD Oregon team, but they haven't really beat anyone. The win at Michigan was Harbaugh's 1st game and his team was still adjusting.  I really don't see how they jump to #2 or even #5.   I will say I am a UTES fan and am excited at the possibility of them being there in the final 4, but I just don't see them hanging in there with the likes of Baylor, TCU, Clemson or several more from the SEC.  I want to believe we're that good but it seems too fast of a jump when they haven't really played any solid teams.  I guess we'll see how they do down the line.  I bet as a hobby, so my knowledge is limited. I am hoping to adsorb a little wisdom here.  Thanks!

well.... Utah is really the "flavor" of the college football world right now.

But as of now... Utah deserves respect

As of right now I think Baylor is unstoppable. They are playing ps3 vs everyone else.

Let's just say if they were to play today..... Baylor is crazy good, but have they seen a defense like Clemson's??? probably wont all year until the playoff....But yeah, right now. I think Baylor is #1

Boom, you don't think Bama is better than FSU or Mich st.? Not arguing, just asking? You kinda gave credit to Clemson for winning all these games, but seems like you don't give Bama credit for being an improving team week by week? No doubt in my mind that Bama can beat most of those teams in that Top 11.. I don't think anybody can beat Baylor except Baylor, but I don't think FSU and MSU are top 10 teams.. JMO, good luck this week bud, I like your plays except for A&M of course.. Lol..... Allen will need to play outta his mind to beat Bama..

Boom, much respect to your passion for CFB and a solid ATS start this year.  As you may remember, I don't have much time to post stuff in here but try to contribute something worth reading when I do.
I live here in the heart of ACC country, and local media drive me nuts with SEC coverage too.  The obvious money and business interests of ESPN are skewed to the SEC and against the B10, just IMO.  I am a Buckeye, but more importantly, a very serious bettor and can't stand half of the morons that use this forum as a cheerleader sewing circle for their team.
I saw a brief clip of the pressed with dabo, and I like him and Clemson a lot.  He should and I expect him to defend his record, etc with stupid media questions, BUT, come on man.....
Your team has how many BCS wins?  Pretty sure just 1 against my Buckeyes..(in a great game BTW)
What's the record vs. the in state chickens last 5y or 10y? AN above average at best SEC team by almost any standard ....
We need to dust off the perry Tuttle clip to remember this team in HUGE game.

And finally, you think they should be ranked ahead of Ohio st?  Just because the perception of the B10 is weak, and a very fair assessment, the fact is that urban is still shuffling his talent around to get them reps which means they aren't covering many spreads.
Your Clemson D has reloaded well, but what happens if Watson goes down again? Can the boys in orange sustain a few injuries between now and bowling season and still keep it going? I guarantee you Ohio st can.
I mentioned in your thread a couple weeks ago that I think this year will continue to produce big upsets, and that I think lots of schools we used to think of as average are closing the gap and it adds to the parity.
Let's keep finding ways to make cash on it

    Look.....

Bama is given this forever ending " pass " all the time. Bottom line is there a good team but nowhere near great. The Bama dynasty is officially closed....You Bama fans are gonna have to come to grips with that.

They played a poor Arkansas team...and don't argue about Arkansas being a good team, cause nobody is buying it. Bottom line is there 2-4...so dont argue about them being a good team. None of this people don't understand the SEC grind garbage that EsecPN teaches you guys. Bottom line is Arkansans is POOR.... Texas Tech and Toledo wasn't impressed.

Bama barley beat them. Look, it was 7-3 Arkansas almost at the end of the 3rd qrt of that game and then bad teams do what bad teams do ( Arkansas )  they fold..........

Bama got half of hundred hung on them @ home about a month ago.

Bottom line is this a good team. Not a top 10 team....sorry, there not.

and the fact that EsecPN people still have them among the 4 teams in the playoffs shows how ignorant they really are....and how bias they really are....and how STUPID.

Want me to put a ranking on Bama?

I understand where you're coming from I really do....and I have defended the buckeyes for a very long time. But if you want my opinion right about them....there not good bro. I think Clemson would absolutely wipe the floor with them right now. Plain and simple....is that not obvious?

Now, they do have the talent to go all the way...But will they? Time will tell. Maybe there not peaking yet... maybe they will.

Damn bro, why are you get so upset about it.? I was being cool with you, I was being respectful to you, and you just wanna lump anyone who pulls for a SEC team into you blast radius? I would say with conviction, until Saban leaves Bama or stops pulling in #1 recruiting classes, Bama is still in Dynasty mode.. Other teams that win the NC disappear the next year or look pathetic, Bama has lost a game or 2, but has been in the thick of it for a while now.. I agree Arkansas is not a good team, and it was close for awhile in that game, but WTF does that matter? Really!? You are trying to clown on the SEC to boost up the ACC.. lol... Look, here's the deal, Clemson has a nickname of Clemsoning because they shat the bed more than ANY OTHER TEAM in history.. That, is, a , fact! And maybe you are mad that Bamas Dynasty started against "thunder & lightning" in 08 ? And maybe you are tired of hearing about em? But good god you can't be serious putting FSU and MSU in that top 10? But hey, it's your list bubba.. Do wut you want.. I have to agree with a lot of others in here now and say you are just a clown.. I used to enjoy your little rants cause I thought you were trolling, but I see now you have mad envy over the SEC..

Not really trying to compare OSU vs Clemson right now, and I have only watched the last 3 Clemson games and all the OSU games....

How many of the OSU games have you watched? If LY proves anything, it's about getting better week to week, and right now were still separating out the pretenders.

Both teams are good, but we won't know for sure until we play some more big games.

Several teams are capable of beating Baylor on any given day, they aren't unbeatable but SEC defenses would be no different than any other, it's very simple

Sec teams score 35+ on each other regularly, Baylor would shred any of those defenses including Bama, LSU or whoever else is supposed to be good

Ohio St shredded Bama last year & TCU just took a dump on the land shark defense of Ole Miss (cute nickname though)

No college defense can stop an elite college offense like Baylor, doesn't mean one of those teams couldn't beat them but they'd have to outscore them

Geez man, I wonder if people even watch games when I read comments on here

I almost want to see a Texas A&M vs Baylor playoff matchup if the Aggies defense is as good as it has looked and their offense keeps making strides. Or Bama/Clemson/LSU- it would be great to see an offense like that go against a truly good defense

great question and maybe not, they may have to outscore another elite offensive team, Baylor can be thrown on, they have undisciplined corners that committ tons of penalties and are below average in coverage IMO

I think it's hard to have an elite defense when your offense scores so often in under 2 minutes but they could definitely be better than they are, too expect them to have a defense like a Florida or Alabama just isn't realistic

Baylor can stop the run, their d line is good and linebackers are solid, it's the back end that's not that good

I don't like the schemes they run defensively

they will have their hands full when they play at TCU, that's almost an impossible place to win right now (what team would you take to win @ TCU this year?  I'm guessing none), Baylor has the best chance that anyone would have because they can score so much

Baylor's defense really frustrates me over the last few years but they are a touch better on that side of the ball and this is by far their best offense ever

as a matter of fact, I'm very comfortable saying this is the best college offense I've ever seen and I've been around a long time watching football, just my opinion

and I think making a good top 10 is so hard because it depends on if you use any titles from last year or you use only results from this year

Ohio St is number 1 to me since they are the champs and haven't lost since but do I think they are the best team right now?  Of course not

based on what I think is the 10 best teams right now for my money I'd go: record means nothing in my rankings of who I think is best

    1. Baylor (stupid good offense and average defense equals wins)
    2. TCU (offense is great and they will get their health back)
    3. Clemson (nice overall team, waiting for Watson to play better)
    4. Ohio St. (still respect their talent, losing Herman has hurt them)
    5. Utah (ugly football but they can play with most teams)
    6. Alabama (Henry is a beast and QB play should get better)
    7. Texas A&M (my favorite SEC program, improved defense)
    8. Michigan (hard to imagine but its Harbaugh and he's a legend)
    9. Oklahoma St. (6-0 and will seemingly keep improving with exp)
    10. Notre Dame (great coaching job by Kelly this year, nice team)

    close by no cigar teams:
Stan (looking good lately after losing 3 am start time game vs NW)
LSU (no QB and no forward pass capability, one man show)
    Michigan St (playing poorly lately)
Florida St. (need better QB play, Cook is retarded good though)
Florida (a nice defense but squeaking by vs below avg teams)
Oklahoma (brutal loss to Texas, may lose to KState)
Ole Miss (azz kicking in the swamp)
Cal (sloppy game vs Utah, could have won with so many INT's)

may have missed a couple but I'm tired

LSU (no QB and no forward pass capability, one man show)
    Michigan St (playing poorly lately)
Florida St. (need better QB play, Cook is retarded good though)
Florida (a nice defense but squeaking by vs below avg teams)
Oklahoma (brutal loss to Texas, may lose to KState)
Ole Miss (azz kicking in the swamp)
Cal (sloppy game vs Utah, could have won with so many INT's)

may have missed a couple but I'm tired

I will swap out Ok St for Florida if they beat LSU in Baton Rouge, that would be two nice wins over Ole Miss and LSU, that would be top 10 worthy and get me paying better attention, that is a nice defense they have in Gainesville

I clearly stopped reading this post after the highlighted statement, but.... you can't be in "dynasty mode" if you aren't winning national championships.  Hate to break it to bammer nation, but you aren't winning one this year either.

Baylor's defensive schemes are a joke lol.  But that's partly due to the fact that their offense can score in seconds which puts them on the field so much (like you said).  It frustrates the crap out of me when I watch them play pass coverage.  It's clear the coaches are just telling them, "no big plays".  It's a stop gap defense.  They beat us on one play, no big deal, they won't score.  And even if they do score, with that offense, doesn't matter.  At least, that's what it seems like the strategy is to me. And it's working, so why change it.  When you're the best offense in cfb history, why worry about defense lol...

I don't understand why Michigan is in your top 10 and is getting so much love??  I mean I understand it, I just don't agree with it.  You're willing to put them in the top 10 but not LSU, and the reason is qb play?? Have you seen Muchigan's qb play lol?  I'm not criticizing (much anyway), just goofing.  But really...

Watch Games    I'm a big 12 guy and watch virtually every game.   Comparing what Ohio St. did to Alabama as an indication of what Baylor would do is a little disingenuous as Ohio State had a mobile QB and basically ran over bama.   They do not run the same offense.   While TCU and Baylor run similar offenses, TCU  relies on Boykins mobility as well as his ability to improvise particularly w Doctsun.   I don't see that w Baylor and other than possibly UT no big 12 team has anywhere near the talent level to stop Baylors timing offense.  My comment is simply whether a defense at the level of LSU can slow downs Baylors offense as no big 12 team apparently will.

I'm a huge fan of Baylor living here in Texas, I love watching that offense but you are correct, that defense can be a joke at times, just stupidity with penalties and undisciplined, Briles likes his kids to be crazy and play with an edge so he's ok with penalties (at least more than normal coaches would be), he's almost like Chip Kelly when it comes to the time of poss stuff as well, he's ok with giving up field goals and then going to score TD's, winning by 30 and onto the next week

I'm not giving them that much love, like I stated, I base my rankings on who I think is better, I do think LSU is solid but surely at some point there will be a defense that can stop Fournette, then what?  Do you think LSU would score on that Michigan defense?  I"m not so sure they would beat Michigan, the Wolverines have a Harbaugh defense and are steadily pitching shutouts now, they have my attention

I personally think Florida would be a better team to beat Michigan than LSU, you aren't going to run on a Harbaugh defense if he's not afraid of the pass, Florida at least has a QB that can throw it past the line

it's all just conversation at this point anyhow, LSU may be in the final four but they'll need to find some passing if they expect to win it, Miles will most likely find a way to lose a game they should win, it's in his DNA, Harbaugh is a waaaaaaaaaay superior coach than Les in my opinion, if Jim was at LSU they would win multiple titles, that team gets unbelievable talent in Baton Rouge

you could be right that LSU deserves more recognition or Michigan deserves less, I'm not willing to say your'e wrong

what I do know is this, Michigan lost in their first game with a brand new staff at Utah who is currently undefeated and have since throttled their opponents, in a year when even the top teams aren't winning by good margins it is easy to respect what Michigan is doing

hope you are doing well wheaty, long time no talk

I see, I think defenses like LSU and Florida would certainly get some stops but I think you're missing the fact that Russell is very mobile, he is move extremely well, he's not a sprinter like Boykin but he's not a pocket guy like Petty was either

I think it's easy to assume defenses in the SEC are better than defenses in the Big12 every year but I'm not sure that's the case, the Big12 has better offenses so of course the defense isn't going to be as good stat wise but TCU's defense basically pitched a shutout vs Ole Miss and the spread that Hugh Freeze runs and they gave up 61 to Baylor, it's all relevant

Baylor can be beat and probably will lose a game but I don't think it's going to be because their offense couldn't put up points

I LOVE watching Baylor.  I think Briles is a genius and doesn't come close to getting the recognition he deserves.  Despite Baylor's so called defensive deficiencies, I think they are no doubt, the most complete team in the country..

So I'm sure most don't know this, but I'm a MONSTER gator fan.  Even tho I didn't play or attend there, just have been since I was little.  I so badly wanted to bring them up in the top 10 convo, especially ahead of LSU and Michigan.  But I didn't want my bias (despite how little I have) to overcome the truth.  So I chuckled with a wry smile when I read your Florida comments lol.  I was just using LSU as a spring board to get to Florida.  I agree with you that Michigan would probably beat LSU and I definitely agree with you that Harbaugh coaches circles are Miles and would do so much more with all that talent.  But I still don't think Michigan is as good as advertised at the moment... Maybe I'm wrong (generally am about them) but I think they come back to earth this week.  Tho the shutouts are impressive.

Pretty sure I didn't say this in week 1, but I"m glad you're back.  Wasn't the same without you.  Instead of hijacking boom's thread next week, I'll make sure to drop by yours and chat you up    hope all is good with you as well
