thoughts from Week 5
- Bama's running game was on point against Florida, wish Brantley didn't get hurt so the game would have been better to watch, not that Florida could have won anyhow, Bama is just a better football team this year, the Gator defense was hyped up but they couldn't hang at the LOS with Bama, Richardson ran all over them, Bama looks to be in good position to make another run, should be fun to watch them play LSU in a few weeks, interested to see if the Tide can run on LES like that
-great win for Dabo and Clemson in Blacksburg, Va Tech isn't as good as most thought and Clemson is better than most thought, props to the Tigers for getting up emotionally for 3 consecutive weeks, that is a rarity on today's college football, the Tigers look to be the favorite in the ACC at this point
-great win for Sark and the Huskies, they didn't look good in the first half but had the lead, they knocked Wynn out of the game and then set the tone on the ground, Washington was more physical than Utah and clearly the better team, congrats to anyone who bet Washington or is a fan of the team, they cost me some money and I clearly wasn't giving their team enough credit for their good start, UDub is a good story for the West Coasters out there who like the Pac12
-Air Force/Navy ended up being a great game, I have zero in common with most of the kids that attend those academy schools but I certainly appreciate watching them compete and what they do for our country, I always enjoy watching those teams play each other, Air Force had today's game won and just couldn't close the deal which made for an exciting finish
- Texas seems to be gaining some momentum, after what was a very poor 2010 this team is nothing like that, they seem to be improving each week and could be a live dog to OU when they meet, have to say that I would take 7 with the Horns in this game and not think twice about it
- Texas A&M, wow, for a second straight week they blow a huge lead and come out flat in the 2nd half, Sherman looks to have no clue after halftime adjustments have been made against his team, they came out storming today and looked to be the better team against the Hogs, but the Hogs had a great 2nd half and got the slight upset (at least according to the line), the Aggies are much closer to an SEC team now though than they were just two years ago, they gotta get up and have a good practice week to be prepared for the Tech game, should be a fun game to watch
- great win for Kansas State and Bill Snyder, their gameplan against Baylor was perfect, run the ball and control the clock, they got some horrible calls in the game, add in the fact that RGIII made some unreal plays and you get a competitive game, Baylor's defense is dreadful though and they can't stop a good ground attack, hence the reason this line should have been a PK, not Baylor favored by 3.5, thanks for that oddsmakers
- was there a worse game on TV to watch than the Michigan State/Ohio St game? how bad is the Buckeye offense? they must be puking themselves in Columbus watching that offense try to mount drives, new coach next year is looking like a lock
- Duke/Florida Intl was a very good game that came down to the wire, this line was similar to the Baylor line in the fact that it should have been PK instead of 4, thanks for another iffy line, it is rare you will see me bet Duke, much less drop 3 units on them (large money) but I had to in this spot
- Toledo punked Temple after the Owls got a big road victory at Maryland just last week, kudos to some of our cappers for recognizing this bad line (know one of them was RJSizzle), not surprised by that at all, he seems to get those good spots more often than not
- Wisconsin looked really good against Nebraska, welcome to the Big10 Husker Nation, wow, the Badgers look to be in the driver's seat to go unbeaten, the rest of the conference isn't very good this year and the Badgers offense is very good
- Boise gets yet another win and will probably go unbeaten, that being said, this is the first time in 3 years that I haven't been really impressed with the Broncos, their offense is just not as explosive as it has been the past few years, I love their team and their coach but I don't see them getting to Championship game even if they go unbeaten, several teams are better than them this particular year in my opinion
- why didn't we all hammer NMSU against New Mexico? what a great bet that was and I simply passed it up and didn't give it enough attention, the line was PK today, live and learn, the Lobos are worse than bad
- big win for June Jones and SMU over TCU, this Frog team has some obvious holes but those programs have been miles apart in recent years, the Mustangs have clearly closed the gap and get a great rivalry win for the program, I wouldn't want to be a the TCU practice this week
- how bad is that Miss St offense? Murray played terrible today and Georgia still won by two touchdowns! weren't the Bulldogs supposed to be better this year? I don't see it, which is why I laid the number with Georgia, I can't stand this Georgia team and I was willing to lay the points, that is how little I think of Miss St this season, simple proof of how bad Memphis really is, most of us just laid 26 or so at Memphis in the first week, I will be looking at a possible Tennessee bet this week against Georgia, interested to see the number there
more thoughts later and will be open for discussion on next week's games, time for some rest for Hoo
