South Carolina just got screwed

Biggest mistake was 8 seconds left, and no timeouts, they throw down the middle. Receiver catches ball then tries to get a extra yard instead of going down to save time. When he hits the ground 2 seconds are left. Then referee steps in blows whistle, game over.

 Smart coach would have realized with 8 seconds left a pass completion in the middle would end game. Throw to the sidelines or endzone and maybe you can get two plays in 8 seconds. That would have been smart decision.

I said a competent team could do it.  If they are down by 3 with less than a minutes to go in the game and their FG unit is sitting around with their helmets off oblivious to what is happening then they wouldn’t be a competent team.

No dude you said south caroliona got screwed as they would have had enough time to kick it. They werent in FG range til he got to where he was, and look on the sidelines during that play everyone is standing there with their helmets off. So in the case of this argument S. carolina had no chance.

The only way a team could get their entire kicking team onto the field and get the ball snapped by the time a ref spots the ball when it is already pretty close to a spot point, is if the ref was fat walked dropped it multiple times and then set it down, that call will never be reviewed in college because of the clock begins as soon as the ball is spotted rule.

Whether that’s true or not I still think they should have been given the opportunity.
