those who hold onto this idealized crap about how "every game in the regular season is a playoff," as support for the BCS system... i have a question for you...

do you believe that Alabama should get a shot at the title game, even if OSU beats OU?

and if so, how do you rationalize that with the fact that Alabama LOST their playoff game to LSU, and (if it happens), OSU would have WON their playoff game against OU... ?

nobody is going to respond to this, because there is no way you can intelligently argue against it...

let's be very clear:  IF Oklahoma St beats OU... and Alabama gets into the BCS title game... ANYBODY WHO EVER MADE THE ARGUMENT THAT THE BCS SYSTEM WORKS BECAUSE EVERY GAME IS A PLAYOFF... IS OFFICIALLY DEAD ON A STICK WITH THIS ARGUMENT!

Yes I can, and have, repeatedly.

"Every game is a playoff "is "dead on a stick."  "Every game is virtually a playoff" is alive and well.

On the plus side there are a 60 exhibition college basketball games on tap tonight.  I can't wait to watch none of them.

Exactly.  I freaking hate Alabama, but I can't even spin a scenario where anybody else should play in that title game.  And thank you full calling bullshit on this women's basektball "tragedy" affecting the Cowboys' play in Ames.  Please. Bama out-played the clear #1 team, missed like nine FG's and lost in OT.  That's better than OK State.

Maybe I am a little slow, but you and many others are saying that if Okie State beats Oklahoma that they deserve a shot at LSU.. Why? you act as though Oklahoma is something special, a two loss Oklahoma team who lost as a 4 td favorite over Texas Tech, and then lost to Baylor.... What on earth makes them a stepping stone into the National Title game? And then lets move on to the one loss that Okie State has... Iowa State... Now if you really read this and think about it... I believe you will realize how rediculous your arguement is..

if OkST would have lost 1 game and 1 game only to OU and not IOWA ST it would be a different story. Bama lost to LSU not Iowa st. That is the reason the bcs is in this mess Oklahoma st did this to themselves. you have a better argument being albama who lost to the #1 team in the nation, while oklahoma st lost to iowa st??? i mean come on man i am using logic 101

I believe you will realize how rediculous your arguement is..

i had respect for you, but i don't anymore... i'm gonna leave it at that... sorry man... you are brain-washed beyond repair...

and your last statement... is 100% false!  not only do i KNOW my argument is not remotely ridiculous... but i KNOW that anybody who doesn't see the over-whelming validity of it is not in touch with reality...

like i said... this is not opinion... if you are saying every game is a playoff, then how can you say Alabama gets to go the NC game after losing their playoff game, over OSU who WON their playoff game, AND played a significantly more demanding schedule?

that's about as deluded of a perspective as i can imagine...

take a Logic course... they are available at your local community college... really isn't acceptable for a grown person in this day and age to not have a fundamental understanding of logic!

seriously man... anybody with half a brain knows they cannot win this argument... anybody who has ever taken a course in Logic or Critical thinking knows they cannot win this argument...

i have previously given Maine the benefit of the doubt, because the guy is an established member of this site... but no more!  you have issues!

to simply continue to fall back on the Iowa St argument and refuse all of the evidence in front of you is horseshit!

because i can just as easily go the other way, pointing out Alabama's lack of impressive wins... which is exactly the argument ALL SEC fans used last year against Boise (prior to the Nevada game, of course)...

if Boise had won that, they would have said Boise has only 1 impressive win (vs. VT), just like Bama only has 1 impressive win (vs. Arky)... they said Bama doesn't get the luxury of taking a week off, like Boise does...

well, here we are again... your argument is now being thrown back in your face, and you are now flip-flopping your argument...

people who argue a point not to get to the bottom of the truth, but simply to defend the position they value the most, are one of the biggest contributors to the destruction of our country and our species right now...

if you do not WORSHIP reality and truth above all else... then you are a LIABILITY to our species!

There are more formats of "playoffs" than just single elimination.  There is also double-elimination, round-robins, or exotic format playoffs.

If it is a round robin format, one loss can be a winner (if there is an undefeated team) or it can win easily (if every other team is around .500) and you play 7+ games.

Specific to Bama, when they lost to LSU they lost control of their own destiny to win the BCS.  Luckily for them the other teams (Oregon, Stanford and OK St) could not keep winning.

I fouled up that previous post.

You are confusing "Single Elimination" with "Playoffs".

"Single Elimination" is a format, where if you lose once you are out.

"Playoffs" is a competition to crown a champion.

Playoffs can be single elimination or it can be another format.  There are more formats of "playoffs" than just single elimination.  There is also double-elimination, round-robins, or exotic format playoffs.

If it is a round robin format, one loss can be a loser (if there is an undefeated team) or it can win easily (if every other team is around .500) and you play 7+ games.

Specific to Bama, when they lost to LSU they lost control of their own destiny to win the BCS.  Luckily for them the other teams (Oregon, Stanford and OK St) could not keep winning.  This is very similar to a round-robin format where you root for the team you lost to to lose.

As I said in another one of these threads, crown LSU.........they've already beaten everyone they need to beat

Ok St. has no one to blame but themselves............................& the voters. Had they taken care of biz vs ISU they'd be in........no doubt. But because they didn't it doesn't matter that they played a tougher schedule than anyone in the top 10.........the voters are comparing only losses.

    A couple of things Ice

let me ask you this, when Oklahoma beats Okie State, who is next down the list that will be more deserving than Bama? Houston? Oregon? or maybe Oklahoma since they will have beaten the mighty Okie State. When Bama lost to LSU, there were many teams who, if they had taken care of business would be in great shape for a shot, BUT they didn't... all of those teams got beat by the likes of Iowa State, Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, and USC.... much different than losing to LSU by three in overtime,

I also appreciate the info on where I can take some logic classes... may check that out... and then maybe I can be smart enough to make numerous idiotic threads like you have done over the last several days

And to finish up, as far as you not respecting me anymore, because we don't see eye to eye,       well I doubt I will lose any sleep over it, but If I do, I'll be sure to let you know...

I prefer the current system over any playoff format I've heard on this forum.  If we set up an 8 team playoff today using the BCS, Arkansas and Boise St. would get in and Oregon and Oklahoma would be left out. Not sure I agree that the best 8 teams would get in.

This is politics and power. There is truth and logic in that. Who has benefitted from the BCS? WHO HAS BENEFITTED FROM THE (current arrangement of) BCS?

There is the power (the truth and the logic you seek).

These idiots only want to be on the right side of the spread, but they aren't connected to power to know what's goin' down. That's it. Nothin' more.

You talk about logic and debate points, but you don't even address someone's questions. WTF is that except your own rant thrown at the wind?

The BCS sucks and is controlled by the power conferences. Head coaches that don't even watch the games are voting for the NC--WTF is that????

The SEC got off their collective asses and have taken advantage of the situation, and can you fault them for that?

Playoff system is coming 2 years from now.

    End of story.
