Does this mean?; If Fields has the virus and will not play Saturday, you will find out when the offense takes the field and at that time no specific reason will be given for his absence. Do we have to be at the airport when the team departs to Eugene Or. and check off the starting players getting on?

It means that it probably does not make a lot of sense to commit too much money
to " early " betting lines , especially if you are betting heavy favorites .
Pointspread risk + Covid risk + not knowing who will actually start on gameday
makes capping and winning a lot more challenging for the Bettor than it
does for the Bookmakers.

If I was an enterprising Bookmaker I would offer a line , with the caveat that Fields " must start " to be action. That way bettors only need to worry about 21 others not starting on gameday.
Not a bad idea for teams with a big star player. May see it.

“Specifically in the pledge, it says that whether or not you participate will not affect your scholarship, so it's a pledge not a waiver, which I would not support.”
Upon further questioning about the Buckeye Pledge from Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) – who introduced legislation along with fellow Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) on Tuesday that would prohibit athletes from being required to sign liability waivers related to COVID-19 – Drake said “I don't support a waiver or an assumption of risk in a legal sense” and said Ohio State has not asked its athletes to waive any legal rights by signing the pledge.
So it is not a waiver after all. Interesting Congress is introducing legislation to prohibit waivers.
I believe the Illinois Football Program had players sign waivers.
