Some games I'm looking at based on lines & situation...
Old Dominion +6 vs James Madison
- Monarchs catching a TD at home? Coming off games against a tested ECU squad and Virginia Tech, I think ODU is getting some disrespect here. While Henicle is better with his legs, he's efficient and still effective in the air. Sure, JMU is 3-0 but the is isn't the JMU of old. Wagner, an inept SDSU offense, and a down Liberty. When are they going to be tested? I think it's this week at ODU. I'll take Old Dominion +6 (before it drops, which I think it will) for 5 units.
Appalachian State +14 @ NC State
- How do you get up off the mat if you are NC State? Last week was an all timer...now, you welcome an App State team playing really well with balanced QB play behind ex-Purdue transfer, Malachi Singleton. He's completing 75% of passes on the season, yes against weaker opponents, but he's not mistake prone and he's a proven Sr. NC State on the other hand just suffered their second loss and they've been reading about the Vandy game all weekend on Twitter. Was that a season crusher? Who knows, but CJ Bailey isn't the guy to make me confident in them bouncing back. I can absolutely see App State hanging around the number, and maybe even threatening the lead at halftime. With that said, give me Appalachian State +14 for 2 units
Auburn -9.5 vs Vanderbilt
- See above for Vandy. Will the prep for a massive game in Auburn be the same as years past? They escaped a game they had no business losing, in addition to shaky play from a FR QB in Vandy. Auburn, meanwhile, is coming off a tough home loss to the Gators. Season is on the line at this point and this is a huge game for Golesh to right the ship before a big game at Tennessee next weekend. That Gator team is no joke this year - I fully expect them to give Ole Miss all kinds of problems. Auburn handled that balance well with almost 400 yards of offense against a solid defensive front and secondary. I have this handicapped at two scores, so I'll take less than 10. Give me Auburn -9.5 for 1 unit.
Notre Dame @ Purdue +28
- I get it, Purdue's defense is swiss cheese. There's no doubting it. But what about ND's offense has you confident they clear 28 here? Purdue's offense finally has some skill talent at both WR and RB. Ijeboi has been a breath of fresh air and Purdue has a top 20 WR duo nationally, led by Browne's improved decision making and efficiency. While ND has a stout defense, I think Purdue is very capable of putting up 17 points in this game, which makes me ask if ND is scoring 46 to cover? I don't think so. I don't have any confidence in Purdue's defense, but it only takes a few stops and and some success on offense to keep this inside the number. Give me the team that's thrown for over 1,000 yards already and has a capable RB to move the chains. I'll take Purdue +28 for 1 unit.
