Exactly.

He's put together a couple of really, really good teams.  I still say that that 2000 KSU team that lost twice to OU that year might have been the 2nd best team in the country that year.  That team was TOUGH.

You kind of just proved my point there.  KSU should have ZERO chance at being able to recruit its way to being a "TOUGH" "2ns best team in the country" EVER!  This guy is the reason you are able to say these things.  This guy has figured out how to work with tremendous handicaps and turn fucking KANSAS STATE into a legitimate program.

Sometimes everything comes together, the schedule works out (tough games at home, or traditional powers are weaker), and stuff happens.  There are tons of examples of non-traditional powers that occasionally put together really good teams.  Boise.  Utah.  TCU.  TT.  Kansas went to the Orange Bowl a couple of years ago.  Oklahoma State used to STINK.  They've been pretty good in recent years, no?

Ok, you cherry picked 4 examples. 

Tech and TCU are from Texas where there are actually a plethora of D1 atheletes in the high schools.

UTAH was lead to prominence by fucking Urban Meyer who I have already mentioned.

Boise is a good point but then again, there are always exceptions.

Do the research and find out how many D1 kids come from kansas high schools to play football.  This is crucial in judging a coach "IMO.  Nice debate though, I really am not trying to be rude.

Meyer and Saban, as much as I hate them, are both better than Snyder. Other than that I can't think of one currently that I would rather have.

You make some good points.  And I'm certainly not trying to say Snyder isn't a good coach.  I always respect his teams.  He is a good coach.  But you can't be "one of the best" when you put as many stinkers on the field as he has.  Regardless of the talent.

As for recruiting, using your logic, any team that is in a state other than Cali, Florida, Texas, and a few others, shouldn't be good.  KSU gets a lot of kids from the KC and STL areas.  They also recruit Oklahoma very hard, and get the kids that OU and now OSU pass on.  The Lockett brothers, all from Tulsa.  And then they can recruit kids from any Big 12 state, b/c if those kids can't go to OU, or UT, or whomever, but want their families to see them, other Big 12 schools such as KSU are a good choice.

Just my take.  Like I said, I think Snyder is a really good coach, but I don't put him in that top tier.

Disagree. Most people don't remember how bad Alabama was until we got Saban. He is the best coach in the Nation and anyone who argues differently is insane.

Alabama is a top tier football program even when they are down.  They have the pick of the liter in a state rich with D1 atheletes.

We are talking about KANSAS ST here man.  Again, there are VERY few D1 football players in that state and the are not a traditional football powerhouse.  The state of Kansas is (was) geared towards basketball.

It really drives me crazy that people don't get this.

I'm not one to recommend killing yourself, but in your case I'd have to reconsider.

In my 10 years on this site I havent read a more idiotic thing.....thats saying a lot. If he isnt, who is? Sure, Id put Saban up there, but hes got the benefit of coaching a college football dynasty. He wouldnt last 3 years at KSU.

 Bill Synder isnt only the best coach in the business currently, he may be the best coach ever. He has done more with less than any other "legendary coach" in the history of college football. Thats not my opinion, thats a fact.

Sure, he hasnt won a national title or gone undefeated every year. The word "coach" doesnt mean winning/losing. His team are always disciplined, technically sound and bust their asses .....all while usually playing against more talented team (on paper). Put him in Oklahoma, FSU, LSU or Bama and those teams probably wouldnt ever lose.

I get a random team that needs to win 1 game, there is no other coach, dead or alive, I want on the sideline.

Please tell me you didnt say Stoops. He is close to the last guy I would want coaching my team. He has all the talent in the world on a yearly basis and still cant win big games. He is a shitty motivator and/or improvisor. When talent isnt enough to win games his squad fold like a hooker who got punched in the stomach.

Why the fuck would he mention Stoops?  His profile says he's from Alabama.

Saban is a Beast, there is no doubt.  Saban has gorged himself at an all you can eat buffet (Alabama/SEC recruiting).  The fact that BAMA was down before he was hired only speaks to the incompetence.  

Bill Snyder didn't even need any of that.  The man was innovative and MADE shit work without all the tools at SABANS disposal.

Saban is a great coach but Snyder is a flat killer

?"how bad"?  they were 6-6, 10-2, and 6-7 the three years before he got there--not terrible, just not what YOU would have liked.

Damn right the man is one of the best. Kansas St. was an absolute doormat of a team that used to get beat by 60-70 points on a yearly basis by Nebraska. How he does what he does only proves he is a damn good coach. The best? Hard to say, but I sure as hell would have loved it if he coached my beloved LSU Tigers instead of that baboon we have now. His kids play hard and they play smart. Championships do not always reflect on the coach- see Les Miles. 

Bill Snyder is a hell of a coach and a classy individual.

Maybe...but I know Meyer looked up Snyder to help him with his offense Florida.

I give Saban props for keeping his teams dialed in.  That's a huge challenge.  He obviously can motivate.  X's and O's?  I have to take my guy every time.

Auburn, Alabama, Texas, USC, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State and Notre Dame, to name a few, have all brought in higher rated recruiting classes various times over the last 5 years (compared to Oklahoma).  Stoops gets a bad rap, and facts do not back up your claim.

I can't bag on Stoops as much as everyone else does, as funny as it is.  Could he be better? Obviously.  If they want to fire him in Norman, I'd take him...though he'd never set foot in Manhattan with all the other opportunities out there.

Guys you have to understand what Snyder has done. He is in Manhattan Kansas, Coaching at Kansas st. Think about that He is and has done more with less then any coach I have ever seen.

I will say this with absolute certainty. If Snyder had been at a school like Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, N.D, Texas...ETC, ETC.... He would have so many National championships that one single room couldn't hold them.

Know this Not one of his players talent wise could stack up against the athletes at let's say...Georgia. But he would beat the shit out them....every time

Young people don't often realize just how bad, historically, the Kansas State program was before Snyder.  The school had only 4 winning seasons from 1935-1990.
