Texas A&M +10.5

Houston is a good team but they've haven't put it all together this year like they have in years past. Take a look at their record against top teams, they have not fared well. In fact I've done quite well fading them in many of those games. Today is another spot I like to fade them.

A&M obviously has played in a tougher conference and generally they have been able to stay within this number. They also have the size to contend down low along with senior leadership.

10.5 pts is too many imo and I like A&M's chances here to stay within that.

Obviously tougher conference? The Big 12 has Iowa State, Arizona, Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas, and TCU. There is a reason why Houston is favored by double digits to Texas AM.

A&M lost to Oklahoma in the tournament. On the road A&M lost to Arkansas, Vandy and Alabama by double digits. They also lost to Oklahoma State by 24 points! What conference is Oklahoma State? Yes, the Big 12. Okla St was a middle of the pack team in the Big 12.

It is not obvious the SEC is a better conference than the Big 12.

Meant it in terms of the SEC having depth from top to bottom, but the Big 12 has better quality teams at the top.

 I guess we will just disagree. The Big 12 also has BYU, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Arizona State and Cincinnati that all had quality wins this year and were bubble teams for the NCAA. The Big 12 not only has the best top teams, but their entire conference from top to bottom was better. 

At one time the Big 12 was 20-6 vs the SEC and ACC in head-to-head matches.

AM may cover the points today, but Houston will win and beat Florida to get to the final four.

 No chance, the 3 game span against Syracuse, notre dame and Tennessee told me all i need.  I don't understand the hype on them  have fielded 2 teams superior to this one in recent years. They have nothing special to surprise you and just seen to fall out of chemistry easy. Agreed that 10.5 points is way to much to give vs a team that presses you like crazy, goes fast as hell and shoots threes almost 50% of the time. 

Shots fall the cover will be a distant conversation and Houston will be clawing just to win.

No chance for what? I'm not arguing if Houston covers the spread or not. I'm not betting that. I'm also not dogging Calbear. I respect his picks. In fact, I wish him the best of luck today. My argument or point was about the better conference. In my opinion...it's hands down Big 12. The numbers speak it.

As for Houston...they play the same defense as year's past, but their offense is so much better. Plus, their coach is one of the best out there. We shall see how far they go.
