I know what you are saying, but Marq is on a totally different level physically than those teams...I think UF is going to have some problems here, just my oppinion

Great thread here playing out all sides of this game. I have to agree with what was mentioned earlier the line tells me more about the way the oddsmakers see this game. Sure UF's 2 prior games were blowouts which will stick in the mind of many however anyone with some knowledge knows Norfolk did not have  a chance in that game so disregard that and Virginia had a top 5 D that they destroyed. My 2 cents is this, to the eye many will love the Marq -1.5 line which will be driven to 2, maybe 2.5 which really isn't a big move but oddsmakers will not let this one get out of hand by putting UF +3. I think UF matches up better vs Marq than most think, sure they will have a tough time with rebounds but those stats can be very misleading. Marq can go cold shooting especially when settling for the outside perimeter shots. UF can be just as physical as Marq, just because they play the Big East doesn't mean a thing to me. The key is UF and their guard play, if they limit turnovers, hit their 3's and let Beal be aggressive they will win this game. No doubt Crowder and DJO are studs but UF is used to playing vs. the big boys. Marq has lost to several good defensive teams (L'Ville, GT, LSU, Cuse, ND, Cincy) well guess what UF is not far behind these squads. Anything can happen in this tourney, everyone is well aware of that but looking at this matchup, the spread, and the way these teams are coming into this game I will be on UF when I feel the line peaks, my guess is +2.5. Good luck with whatever your decision. Perhaps some past stats to think about UF is 17-2 in the NCAA tourn since 2006 however 0-2 vs Marquette.

Nice analysis, alot of good points....What I also look at is how UF played against top competition. They finished 2nd in the SEC (a weaker conference than the big east this year IMO).  Against the top  teams in their conference (uk, tenn, vandy) they were 1-6 !!! and of course the lone win was at home against Vandy.  They also lost to an AWFUL Georgia squad.  Are they hot right now?? Not in my oppinion, they beat Virginia who plays great D but can barely crack 50 on offense, and Norfolk who?.  They lost 4/5 coming into the tournament AND the BEST (and I use that word carefully) team they beat all season, all season, was Alabama, who finished 5th in the SEC and lost 12 games this season.  Marq has beat Gtown, Cincy, Louisville, Wisky.  Im sorry, I have seen them play, and marquette is just straight up better.....Florida hasn't passed a test all year.  Sure they can shoot the lights out and beat anyone, they have the talent..but you play this game 10 times, I think Marquette wins 7 of them.

I definitely agree with you, 7 out of 10 times Marq wins this game but I have followed UF all season and been to many of their home games and no doubt they limped in but with the injuries this team went through and Beal's shooting slump all happening at the same time it made sense. But things are coming together now and I just think with the line set at 1.5 in Marq favor tells me more about what the oddsmakers think about this game. I think it will be a great game no doubt and I have a ton of respect for Marq and their coaching staff, I just think Donovan gets the best of them in this particular game.

You were kind of mistaken, it was a neutral site game, and a loss so I dont know if you were aiming for a moral victory?  But if you thought that I counted that game in the 1-6 record then you WERE mistaken.  They lost to UK twice during the regular season, and once in the sec tournament.  So 3 times total, to one team, Im a huge UK fan and know how good they are, but losing to a team 3 times in one season is hard to do

@ROVIN56:  I absolutely think either team can create some seperation in this one....both have the talent to do so, especially is Florid's 3's are not falling, I think they could find themselves down by 12-15 points in the 2nd half

Playing UK in the SEC Tournament is most certainly a road game every year, they fill out 85% or more of the stands for each Tournament every year.

OK so even if you call it a "Road" game, I still do not get the point of the post, do you?? was it that UF played UK tough in a neutral site game with "85%" uk fans? wow good for them.  They still lost.  Tell me about a good road win they had, or a good win in general besides at home against vandy, which isnt a good win, its an expected win.....anyone???  Anyone have a quality win for Florida this year???

I agree- fl has two guys in the 6'8 range in their starting lineup - marq could struggle with that size.

I would take Marquette In a heart beat. The line scares me though. Would feel more comfortable at  4 for some reason. Idk if the books think Florida lights it up. Marquette is known to come out slow.

I like Marquette in this spot. That Big East schedule sucess and tough game against a reselient/talented MSU squad has me on board. Plus Buzz Williams knows how to get the most out of his players. Laying the -1.5. Bol to everyone.

Marquette's quickness and better overall players will win this one by at least 2. This is the one I circled when I looked at the lines at the start of the week. Now I just need another team to throw in? MSU or SYR? Any help will be appreciated.

Big East has 4 teams in the sweet 16.  the teams are tough.  SEC has FL and KY and granted KY is the overall no.1.  Had Fab Melo not been ruled ineligible,  I say Syracuse could have given KY  a run for the championship.  They still may but their bracket is loaded, like the West.  UNC has a very easy path in comparison to the West and East.
I think Marquette is the tougher team and wins tomorrow.  just my opinion.  Everybody is so damn good at this point,  you are going to need to be lucky.  I like Louisville as I don't think Mi. St. was a true 1 seed.  UNC should beat Ohio even without K. M.  Ohio St. I like over CN as they seem to have more firepower.  My surprise is Xavier over Baylor.  I can at least say Hawaii beat them here in OT!!  Syracuse and KS and KY are winners.

I don't think Florida has the bodies to keep up in this game. Marquette will get them in the 2nd half. Hoping UF is up at half so I can make a big bet on 2H. I am on Marquette ML.

If you watched the game you know why Florida lost, the refs did the same shit they do in every UK game to sell tickets, they shot the least amount of FT's in SEC Tournament history and it was not because they didn't take it to the basket. 20-2 FT disparity, it is like you are just looking for anything at all to see the reason to take Marquette in this game rather than be subjective about the game. Florida has a VERY legit chance to win and advance, that is reality. If they continue playing the level they have been the last 3 games, I expect them to win. They are a very talented team with a great and underrated coach even after all the winning he does year in and year out with less talent than the big boys.

The Marq/UF line has stayed at 1.5 the whole week, I think vegas got exactly what they wanted from that line.  Makes me like Marq even more that the line has stood still.

Only reason I'm hesitant about Marquette is that all year a big MU advantage has been Buzz Williams outcoaching his opponent and being the master of 2nd half adjustments, but with B Donovan I think the coaching matchup is a wash.
