Holmey, you said that "LOCKS need to be -129 or better".  That's exactly what I did.  I had other "locks", but they didn't follow your rule of "LOCKS need to be -129 or better."  I followed your rule to the letter of the law.  How else was I suppose to interpret 
"LOCKS need to be -129 or better?   I would have taken Mercer -3 if I did not try to follow exactly as you stated.  I feel that for my first play and trying to follow all your rules you should count it.  Or just count it if Mercer wins by more than 3.

Please excuse my ignorance.

Yes, good job so far.  I am not tracking it, though, because the "writeup" was more of a line movement explanation than an "expertise" explanation.  I encourage anyone to post any plays here that they want, but to get tracked in the LOCK stats, a writeup with some insight on the teams is part of the deal.  I hope your play hits though!  Thanks for posting!

This is accurate.  I will post one a day and maybe see if there is a way to have the LOCK records on my Profile page or something?

Ah, I get what you are saying.  I had to reduce much of the explanation I used on CBS for a decade because Covers has a 7800 character limit (for some reason).  "Or better" means -129 or less.  Like -115 or -108 or whatever.  We don't want people taking big favorites for their LOCK.

I'll put you down for Mercer -3.  Sorry about that.  Just a misunderstanding in verbiage, I guess.  Thanks for participating and thanks for pointing out that there is a poorly-worded rule.

No problem magiccarpet.  Not trying to be a hardass but it takes a while to get everyone on the same page.  Hoping I get things rolling on Covers like we had it on CBS.  There are a lot of people here who remember the CBS thread and know what an amazing capping tool it was when things were going smoothly.  More will show up in the next few weeks, too.  There were hundreds of active LOCKers over on CBS.  I am sure the Old School guys will keep filtering in and the new guys from Covers will be some new blood to help out too.  I am encouraged that these boards are comparable enough to CBS's and it will enable us to replicate the CBS success.

Thanks for contributing on the first day!

Looks like just 1-1 on LOCKS for the first day of the thread.  Start off slow and build.  On CBS, we had 3 LOCKS on the fist day in 2007.  By the end of 2007, we had over 100 LOCKS a day on the weekends.  Hoping we will build to that here too.

I will get tomorrow's thread up in the next hour or so.  Any of you guys who are from CBS who know what's up can help out by answering questions and steering people in the right direction in the next few days.  I am not on the thread that much any more, so I appreciate any help I can get!

Is it only allowed to have locks in American sports? I'm from Europa and watch a lot of soccer (England, Germany, Spain an Netherlands). Sometimes I have very useful info in soccer games.

We LOVE soccer LOCKS.  Just remember they need to be (-129) or less.  Nothing higher than (-130).

I am a big BPL fan too.  ManCity guy.  Fired up for Pep but Yaya is my favorite player, so I think I see the writing on the wall there.....

Alright  no problem, I will check my betting site in American odds. Crazy things going on in BPL, I already have a pending bet on Leicester city finishing in top 4 (+950)  Placed the bet after 9 matches played, back then they all said Leicester wouldn't last  and the other big teams stil dropping points. Only Man city, Arsenal and Spurs will be on top of them ( I hope). Let's have a nice season, I hope to get a lot of info on basketball and hockey here

Whoa.  That is a great bet!  I can't see how a fourth team could get above them.  Shoot.  The might still win the whole thing.  Game on Saturday will be a big determiner.

Leicester is still pretty good odds to win even though they are in first, right?  If they can beat City on Sat., then they could win the whole thing while all the experts keep saying they can't.

Good to have a soccer LOCKer on here.  If this gets going full speed like in the past, the degenerates on here LOVE getting their early AM action down on some soccer.

Do you just bet the top leagues?  Make sure you keep your LOCKS to top-tier leagues so we can bet on them too! lol

If this was 1997, maybe this "lock thread" would work. However, it's 2016, where there is no such thing as a lock, unless you got inside information on a game. You may have a higher read on a game or good stats to support a pick, but that doesn't make it a lock.

Yeah but I think city will get a victory at home Saturday, with the fact they publicly said pep being the head coach next season will bring some relief for pellegrini. And first we have to see how they gonna play Liverpool tomorrow. 

Leicester is getting +800 to will the PL at my bookie, but it's hard to say, the squad of Leicester is not that deep so I'm hoping Arsenal and Man city will stay as long as possible in CL.

I play a lot top 5 leagues + Netherlands and Belgium. 

Ps. Sorry for my bad spelling, but there will be more haha

Don't take the "L" word too literally, that's not the point.  It's just what the thread is called, we all know there are no sure things.
