1st things 1st, the elephant in the room: vikes have won 10 straight in this series including 5 since howard moore became HC at illy-chicago, the margin of victory in those latter 5 being a rather hysterical 24, 14, 12, 17, and 28 pts...
now im wondering, if you're in mr. moore's sneakers, when this run sort of stopped being roll-n-the-aisles funny, and im guessing it was last feb 5, the date of that 28-pt bloodbath, when visiting csu sitting atop the conference built an 7-pt halftime lead and then poured on the gas to coast home 70-42...
well, altho it's early the sneaker's on the other foot here, flames are 10-4 overall and 1st in the horizon league and cleveland state's in a bit of a downward spiral, battling injuries, playing a kind of frantic pressure-D style in an attempt to create offence off turnovers; they're getting some turnovers but creating very little offence...
ok, caveat emptor time...(1) it's csu's conference home opener, and (2) flames have home date with valpo on deck, but i believe those factors are negated by (1) cleveland state, lacking depth and cohesion, is pathetic, and (2) howard moore and returning flames vets including talton, barnes, and brown are weary of getting their posteriors whipped...
note: senior G talton, averaging 12 pts and 5 helpers, was 0-for-8 in 31 minutes in last meeting, flames as a team shot 27 %, im thinking he and the rest of his mates step up big here in the prime payback spot
