Could not agree more...really will hurt BYU's chances of going deep when a solid team is able to isolate him and slow him down, until then his highlight reels on ESPN will be entertaining

Box and 1 and triangle and 2 are High School defenses. At the college and NBA level you cant be playing 4 on 3. I promise these coaches dont use it because it works. They know what their doing .

Aside from Jimmer and Emery it's not really a good offense. Tonight Jimmer (and Davies a little) were all that showed up. If a team shuts down Jimmer or he has an off night BYU is in trouble. 1 player can only take you so far.

These kids are 1 or 2 years out of high school. You cant use these defenses against some schools, but a good defnesive team could handle BYU 3 on 4. If a player is scoring 70% of the other teams points, and you cant stop him, its only logical that you remove him from the equation

I have to disagree with you Train and agree with ManRam on this one... man on man or zone is the only way to defend in the college game. IMHO they should switch between the two to change things up once Jimmer got going. But you cannot let Jimmer score 44 and think that you are going to come away with a win. I really thought going into this game that SDSU had sufficient athletic swingmen to guard Jimmer one on one and if nothing else make him shot 25 or 30 times to earn his 20-25 points. Then if SDSU cleans up the glass and minimizes second shot opportunites they would accomplish what they needed to against Jimmer and worry about the rest of the team in the same fashion. I am sure SDSU had the same game plan too but sometimes best laid plans don't work out. Was an awesome game (well until the last 10 minutes LOL).

Guys like Jimmer can't be stopped with a just plain defense it's obvious to anyone who watches the kid is a elite player, you either are gonna put 2 people on him and let the others get thiers or let him get his and hope the others can't.

For the most part yes, man 2 man or zone is the only way. However, when a team relies on one player for over half its points, you must remove his points from the game by any means. If SdST doubled Jimmer last night, they probably win.....hell, it couldnt have been worse
