This line is carrying a heavy St. John's tax after that Big East title run, but the matchup sets up much tighter than the number suggests. Northern Iowa is built to slow games down and force you into half-court possessions, which is exactly where St. John's becomes more average. If UNI controls tempo-and they usually do-this turns into a grind, not a blowout. They also have the size and discipline inside to limit second-chance points, which is a big part of St. John's offense. Add in the cross-country travel and a veteran UNI group that's comfortable in these neutral-site spots, and this starts to look like a game that stays within range. Double digits is just too much in a game that likely lives in the 60s.
