I love this spot for a variety of reasons. Utah has peppered their schedule with home cupcakes early. SJSU, Weber St, SHST, Holy Cross, IPFW, Cal Poly, GCU, and Cal Bap. Lost two of these games and their overall aggregate win margin is +9 on the season for a 7-4 team, which excludes any outlier blowouts.
Ms St is 4-5 and dealt with Hubbard being injured early on, although he fought through and played, but last 3 games has been at full strength according to Jans. MS ST SOS is top 40 nationally, Utah is 188th. State lost games at SMU, K- State, Iowa St. Played New Mexico and Georgia Tech.
The 15,000 seat Huntsman Center used to be a raucous arena, but this year their home attendance average is 6,839, most recently 6,100 with students back from break.
Donald McHenry their second leading scorer was a 3 star from Bradley Tech in Milwaukee and the team is littered with average.
Ms St is better in every metric by a lot. They average 8 fewer turnovers and the 1-3-1 half court trap will be a problem for Utah as they average 17 turnovers a game.
Lay the 1.5 on Ms St.

Thank you. Way to do my due diligence eh? Without trying to be revisionist history that makes this I think more attractive because kids are less likely to drive the 5 miles over. Curious to see the attendance for the game. Still a must play in my opinion and thank you for correcting me!

Yeah I agree the sterile environment at a neutral spot probably helps further. I’ll check those plays out! So many games today and I promised myself I will only play 4 and one par for fun. Like something really well shoot me a message.

Thank you for your capping services. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this.
A question regarding this one. In football a few years back, Utah went undefeated in their high altitude games, home or road, but lost 3 coastal games, closer to sea level, granted it was to like USC and Oregon. But they got revenge in their title game, which if memory serves was in Vegas at sort of middle altitude.
Have you noticed any affect of altitude on road teams coming in who might be used to playing at sea level?
For reference Starksville alt is 305 ft. Salt Lake City is 4,678 ft.

Thanks for the kind words! When I used to bet NBA I often bet on high alt teams against last leg of a road trip team.
This metric I hadn’t even considered in regards to this game. But I think you’re on to something that could be valuable. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, smart stuff!
Based on the line alone minus anything measured in the write up I’d take MS State anyway because 7-4 at home(ish), known commodity, name brand school vs 4-5 name brand school. Line seems to spoon-feed you to take Utah, which I’m going opposite direction.
Great idea to analyze and thanks for bringing this up!
