Vasquez Marquez

Has anyone seen line on this fight? I am really looking forward to this fight. Not sure yet who to play...I read that Freddie Roach had stepped away from training Vasq because he was slurring his speech. I thought in earlier fights Vasquez had enormous heart and will, while Marquez is the more technically superior fighter. Looked like in the third installment Marquez got worn down and i wonder if that will carry over, if Marquez thinks he can beat the spirit/toughness of Vasquez---thoughts?

This fight is a true toss up for me but I slightly favor Marquez.

Vasquez has been trying to be more defensive as of late, but I honestly feel he's better off in slugger mode (especially versus Marquez). "Don't try to outbox a boxer."

These guys are fighting at 126 not 122. The move up in weight favors Marquez because he's a more naturally heavy puncher and he'll be able to take a punch better(Marquez' chin is his biggest weakness) without having to dehydrate himself.

Some might say not having Beristein in his corner will hurt Marquez, but I've always felt Beristein was the most overrated trainer. I respect his ring style, knowledge, and advice, but he doesn't even hold handpads. As a matter of fact, his mittman, Zaragoza is now the official trainer of Marquez. Zaragoza of course is a former champ who trained under Beristein so their really is no style change.

I haven't seen any odds on this fight, but I'm going with Marquez. Depending on what the over/under is I'll probably end up picking the over. I won't bet big though. You shouldn't either. Vasquez has a lion heart and Marquez is chinny. Plus neither fighters' legs are what they used to be.

Who was slurring Freddy, Vasquez, or both?

I don't even care about betting on this fight, as it's not only a toss up IMO, but this is the best argument to "sit back and enjoy it" in the sport since the last one

I LOVE Marquez in this fight. Vasquez struggled in his 9th round TKO victory in his only fight since his detached retina surgery on his right eye. The fight was even on two cards at the time of the stoppage.

If he starts taking any real punishment in this fight (or accumulation of punishment to that eye) this one will be stopped instantly. Unless he gets Marquez out of there early, he probably doesn't have the war left in him. At least his eye won't..

Yea Freddie advised Vasquez to hang it up, although not sure if he was slurring during this speech...maybe that is why Vasquez ignored his advice and continues on.

Interesting with the eye ---i hadnt thought of that. I definitely think Marquez is much more precise of a puncher and vastly technically superior. It's just the heart of Vasquez. Will end up going lightly on Marquez and definitely looking forward to this fight saturday

I can't bet this fight.  Either of these guys can get KO'd at any minute of this fight.  Too tough to call.  Vazquez is the bigger and stronger of the two, so my first thought is to side with him, but walk is right about the eye.  Too much risk. 

Lay back and enjoy how many times do we get to see a fourth installment in a boxing match!

Freddie Roach has pac-man and now khan why would he even want to train a brawler who we know is in a tough fight, when he can train pac and khan to fight hand picked opponents.

The winner will be us fans this weekend! I like ITD but won't be wagering on it.

Who knows what either guy has left, let's hope it's a great fight and they hang up the gloves afterward.

Just saw Vazquez @ -150 and Marquez @ +120.  O/U set at 9.5.

Undercard fight is -115 each way.  I like Perez a lot in that fight.

danno you are second person i have seen say they really like perez. just locked him in at -115, i'll have many drinks in me by that time and look forward to the card.

Danno why are you so big on Perez?I like his workrate and underrated technique but Mares is undefeated and he is a dedicated bodypuncher with decent head movement. Risky play in my mind. I take back what I said about playing the OVER on the Marquez-Vasquez fight. Its at 9.5. I thought it would be more like 7.5. I do however like the over on the Mares-Perez fight. I've never seen either of these fighters have their will broken.

Perez has fought MUCH tougher competition. Both guys have a lot of ko's and the over is steep. Y the love??

Both Mares and Perez can box well. They fought versus each other 3 times in the amatuers and were once sparring partners. I don't think -185 is steep for the over.

Perez is coming in off of two excellent wins, while Mares is coming in having won against three no-hopers after his eye injury.  I was at the Mares fight against Marchiano, and while it was pretty wide on the scorecards, Marchiano was landing a decent amount of punches throughout the fight.  I just don't think Mares is ready to go with someone of Perez's caliber. 

im pounding perez big time.........to take abekos  punches like he did, perez is a gamer...mares is another golden boy prospect and there line are always inflated. perez should at least be a -250 favorite in my opinion as mares has done  nothing to prove he is at the same calibar.

Yup.  I just saw that, Cee.  They have Marquez at -145.  That's really a shock to me.  I would've bet my life that Vazquez would be favored.

lines are all over the place. marq down to plus 120 on my site, perez is now -110, small moves but man it's crazy compared to what you guys are getting. I use betzsports.com, but i use it with a local book from hartford, so I have absolutely NO reference for how they are with credit cards, accounts, etc.
My book uses the site in some arrangement where we play on the site, but meet up with him.
that is a pretty big swing, from marq as dog to fave if you guys like him.
Once again, I cant say anything with respect to how this site is --- so i am not recommending at all

I'm taking Marquez by mid round stoppage , just think he is the less shot of the 2 warriors. Mares-Perez a toss-up. Both fighters have their pros & cons...so it's a pass for me wagering wise. GLTU!

My initial take was ITD but no line was posted now I see it -240 that's too high.

I went with Vasquez because in all 3 fights he was the stronger guy better chin and comes on strong as the fight goes on, where as Marquez starts out great and his leg don't look as good in the mid-late rounds.

I think Vazquez takes him out, and if he doesn't I have 10 points to play with. (Not like it matters because I feel a KO(for either guy is a good possibilty) if Vasquez gets stopped it will be because of cuts but still a ko/tko if caused by a punch.

Hard fight to really guage because after 3 wars .. what do these guys have left.
