'vander vs. Sultan: does "V" have any shot in this one? Or is his Career about to end?

Sultan Ibragimov is beatable in my book. But does "V" have enough left to catch lightening in the proverbial bottle one more time???

This Saturday nite in the Khodynka Ice Palace of Moscow, we find out, inside of the land of the CCCP's, dolls that live inside, well...other dolls, dictators that have continents for birthmarks, Ivan Drago, and Voooooo-da-ka. Sultan is a Lefty, he has some Power. But he's not a Klitschko super-heavyweight Heavyweight either. Nor does he have a real Heavyweight Reach. EH has the Reach edge in fact, he has the Experience edge, ditto Resume`. In fact....."V" has as many Title bouts as Sultan has bouts. Ever heard of that?

"V" is in shape, you may bet your life on that. His shoulders excuse
or explanation ('pending on your POV) for his awful showings from 2002 to 2004, holds just a little more H20 with every win. I went against him in the first 3, went o for 3, then got back on the Lou fight. But he is only 6 days removed from being 45. That's a lot of wear&tear, I don't care how many Wheaties you eat.

I thought Holy' would be stretched by whomever & outta boxing by now, but "V" has won 4 in a row, vs. legible competition. Is that enough to upset Sultan? Holy is nearly a +350 underdog. NEVER thought I'd type this, but I'm taking a long hard look at those odds on "V". He just might do this, then fight Wald in a mega comeback of all-time PPV, & end up like the guy on the left in this pic...but he just might win this Saturday.

What say you???

My mind tells me Evander doesn't have a prayer, but of course I am pulling for him.  I couldn't wager on him though.  Sultan's hand speed should carry the day, Fres Oquendo was able to out speed Evander all night in his loss (I thought it was a win) and Sultan is a class above him.  Evander only hope is to land one big shot on Sultan's jaw.

If you saw Evander's fight with Savarase, you'd probably not be putting any money close to Evander's side, but best of luck if you decide to.

Dang?!? "V" dropped almost 10 lbs. for this one??? I'm now taking both side to go the Distance. (Sultan at his lightest since 2005 as well).

Driving the Mercedes as well, "Baby Joe" (who I hope does not get hurt, but his guy ain't much, & has a fragile face, & JM does look to be in better shape, finally), Derry in UK action. Steiglitz & his UP. Throwing Ruiz in a separate parlay as well, as I'm told he's back to his Halloween style. All anchored by my Hokies-6oo.

Take the Over 10.5, I see it right now at -135.

Commander Vander wasn't a one-punch KO artist in his prime, and I'm willing to bet that getting the likes of Maddalone and Bates out of there in under five had more to do with Maddalone and Bates. Sultan has KO'd lesser opponents, but we all know that the chin is the last thing to go in an old or war weary fighter. Evander should still have plenty. The 2000 heavyweight Silver Medalist is smart enough and has the necessary skills to move early and avoid the slugfest Evander needs to keep this competitive. Ibragimov also went the distance with Briggs, whose pineapple domed, asthmatic ass has more firepower left than Evander.

As far as Ibragimov's southpaw stance, yes Evander gave (an already fading) Byrd a decent scrap, and KO'd Moorer in 8, but this was a thousand years ago. On 45 year old legs, it will be tough for Evander to close the distance AND stay active enough inside to avoid breaks and clinches, let alone win rounds.

If the nostalgia proves to be too much, there are worse bets than dropping a unit on Evander at 3.5/ 1, but there's much better value in the over. The again, this is the heavyweight division. What good is logic here?

I put a grand on Holy +375 on a larf.  I think he loses, but he is my favorite fighter ever, I will be watching and we might get some wacky cards.
 
I also like the over and may hit that as well.

I need to add that the boxing community really wants Holyfield back as champ and this might be a disgustingly bad decision.

I agry w/ a.win. Boxing wants, & even needs "V" to win this one. Though it would be pretty odd to see Sultan get swatted in his own CCCP backyard by the Russian Gynamastic judges. Though it has happened b4.

Mercedes wins late, "Baby Joe" appears to have had his best comeback nite & won very early. I'll take it.

Yeah, that would be wild. I don't think we'll be seeing Putin standing up and applauding after Evander mumbles through the "If I can change" speech.

i dropped a couple hundy on Holyfield just for old times sake... dont think he has a very good chance at all thoguh.

EH looks old, slow, & just unable to mix it up on offense. Sultan is not exactly wowing me, but he's won 5-6 Rounds by me thru 7. EH is very slow of foot. Nice right by EH in the 8th, his best of the Fight.

That was a nice right in the 8th, but Sultan was prolly not even buzzed, & it landed on the button, bodes well for SI.

Sultan doing a nice in&out job, then coutering well w/ his Left, right down the middle. Almost gunshy, in a way, but A+ correct. Not giving EH much of a look to mount any offense all nite. Kinda like a lead footed FMayJr.

EH hurt to the body by an Left in the 10th. Decent head shot by EH late rallied late, moved SI back w 2 rights.

2 nice rights in the 12th for EH, bolo shot for Sultan. Holy may have stolen a round out 2 in the final 5 rounds.

I had it 10-2 for Sultan, maybe 9-3. But Sultan is the easy winner, & he will soon be parted from this Belt.

Ro.Stieglitz wins & so does his UP, though he had a ugly Cut, & you never know how or when that will end. Good thing he was in the Deutschland. Derry won, in the 11th on a Stoppage.
