Upcoming fights..

Guys I am taking a month long R&R to the turks and Caicos so I won't be posting much. I will be playing the next 5 big fights but not much.

I will be playing Andre Dirrell to win on points. I am so NOT confident on this bet. The reason being I seriously question Andre Dirells mental toughness. He comes across a scared little kid to me. King Authur is one of the toughest nuts to ever lace a pair of boxing gloves. With his peak a boo defense hard hitting with both hands and mental toughness I really should plough into him to beat a scared Andre Dirrell but I am not going to. When I look at the boxing fundamentals of this fight I can see great value in Andre Dirrell. These being...

1) He is at home..AA Never fought thus good a fighter outside of Germany.

2) It is a must win fight, if he losses his super 6 and potentially his career are over (really before it began)..

3) His style is perfect on paper for AA. Stick and move. Throw punches at angles to pick apart the peak a boo defense. Mixing it up with hard combinations to the body..

I thought Taylor had good success early before he gassed. Dirrell wont gas. I am convinced if the Froch fight happened in America, Direll gets tghe decision, so he is not going to have to change tactics a whole lot and I think these tactics will work a treat against AA. So in this fight I am picking Andre Dirrell on Points...

Haye v Ruiz. For me Haye on points. I don't think either man has the power to stop the other. Think it will be pretty close too, with Haye getting the hometown decision. For me Haye on Points.

Will put a double on Pavlik and Bute, Should come to about evens..

I would be most confident on the Haye pick..The rest will be low stakes..See you guys soon and good luck with your plays

Just added to my 5dimes account. Considering its my 2nd account I'm just using it for plays my other place doesn't do...which is boxing parlays. Not big into parlays, but I like ones like this...

I'm still stuck on the fence with Dirrell, what bothers me is once he gets HIT he becomes a fighter who retreats.

Jermaine's CHIN is pretty good it's only when he gets gassed does he get KO'd. Jermaine took some really good shots from Abraham and did well (until he ran out of gas).

While I see why you took Dirrell his only way of winning is by decision.

I'm not sold on Dirrell I've seen him stunned from BUMS a few times.. and when he gets stunned.. he starts running.. I don't know if he has the HEART to  with stand the pressure.


Not making a pick yet I need to watch more footage of Dirrell :-)

rich GREAT point about Dirrell. For those reasons I am not confident on the pick and no way I would bet alot of money on a guy like Dirrell.

McNulty, Turks and Caicos are islands about 1 hour away from Miami, maybe a bit more. I am staying in a place called Grace bay..Not bad

 

Molitor looks solid, he already knocked the same guy out so  that's not that bad.

Gamboa scares me.. he's fighting over seas against a guy who is naturally bigger than him. The guy also has never been down. I made a post about this a while ago why is he fighting over seas now that he has such great American Exposure.

Removing Gamboa at -2000 (he only adds $18 to the play anyways).

Why not add Bernard Hopkins.. at -450 much better play than Gamboa OR Danny Green.

Why do I say this Danny Green LOST to MUNDINE who Siaca beat.

Remember Danny Green was retiring before the Roy Jones fight.. that's not a guy I would wager on.

Haye/Ruiz.. well I believe Haye wins, but I know for sure RUIZ is on ROIDS, he looks like a different fighter.

He was a flab bag his whole career.. now at this old age he is ripped like a youngster? That worries me!

I would remove Gamboa he only adds a few bucks to the parlay, add HOPKINS :)


Adding Hopkins and removing Gamboa .. brings back $273.

If you remove Danny Green.. also.. and add Hopkins.. you can take

McNulty I think Gamboa is the real deal and I wouldn't expect a minutes worry in that one. I think B-Hop will be too much for RJJ in a snoozefest. RJJ will have to make the pace and suits b-Hop down to the ground, his reflexes are shot to pieces and I think B-Hop wins easy here.

I agree with Rich I could never bet a guy like Danny Green. Maybe throw in Lucian Bute somewhere. No way he will lose to Edision Miranda

Bute.Miranda wasn't on 5D last night. At least I didn't think I saw it. I would have jumped on it for sure.

Still doing work on the Dirrell.Abraham fight. If anyone has any solid links on the extent of Dirrell's injury, please post. I like Dirrell in this, but if he really did in fact get injured and it wasn't just a ploy to extend the fight, then I'm worried.

Dirrell had NO injury backs don't heal up in a few weeks.

Now if he postponed it for 2 months I could see it as a real injury, a few weeks? NO way.

That's as bad as Pavlik's hand excuse, then two weeks after Martinez/Williams do war he FIGHTS.

The more I think about Dirrell... the more I LIKE the points handicap -4.5 Abraham (KO is a winner).

I cannot pick Dirrell holding my breath hoping he doesn't get caught.

I know Dirrell cannot take a punch, as much as I love rooting for the American fighters. I like guys who have heart.

Dirrell fought the PERFECT fight against Froch who is a sub-par boxer.. Abraham is far  better as a boxer than Froch is, he won't be able to do what he did against Froch.

I will either bet Abraham -4.5 pts handicap (KO/TKO is a winner) at -115 or I won't wager at all.

I don't know what Dirrell is pulling maybe it was his promoters idea or something all I know is if you have a back injury.. how can you know for SURE it will be healed by the 27th?

For all we know he could cancel again.

I think Rich you make great points on Andre Dirrell. I have a funny feeling after the fight, I will be saying to myself what the hell was I thinking backing Dirrell. I too question Dirrells chin, his mental toughness and most of all his heart. I have no such questions over Abraham. I actually like AA and in my Pre super six predictions, I picked both himself and Andre Ward to be in the final. So why back against him now?. I just have a hunch this is a potential banana skin for AA and that Dirrell has the kind of style and skills to make this very awkward evening for AA. Remember Direll for all his faults should IMO still be undefeated going into this fight. If he was, his odds would not be as appealing as they are right now. I also have to think that the Froch fight bought this guy on a ton.

I agree mostly with Vivek Wallace on Eastside boxing (best boxing website on the Net IMO) who says "The trend so far in the tournament is that the hometown fighters have each gotten the nod. The reason that I don't think this 'hometown victory' trend will continue in this fight is because the man who will be on the road this time will also be the only one of the group with the ability to remove judges from the equation, taking things into his own hands....literally. Abraham has a strong defense, great stamina, and thunderous power, but considering that it took 12 rounds to knock Jermain taylor out, I'm not so sure that he'll KO Dirrell. That being said, Dirrell has shown stamina issues at points in the past and that could place him in immediate danger against someone like Abraham. The wildcard here is that Andre Dirrell has great speed and sufficient power himself. If he can find a way to penetrate that defense of Abraham and get him to open up a bit, things could get interesting.

In the end, I like Abraham to win, but I think Dirrell is a very live underdog, and if he finishes the fight on his feet, I wouldn't rule out his chances of a points win. I'm looking forward to this fight more than any other this week coming up, and I don't think fight fans will be disappointed when it's all said and done"

I am basically playing Dirrell because I believe in this fight he is the value play. I would be amazed if this isn't really close after 8 /9 rounds and I would rather have + 200 then sweating on -300.

AA should pull through and do enough in the end to get the W but not everything in boxing plays out as it should. I have a hunch for Dirrell and I am playing on that hunch. I just recommend maybe people fade me on this one..

Well thats one down. Took Dirrell to win and a saver on points so that was disappointing not to hit too. Makes the cocktails go down easier though Andre winning. Next up Haye Ruiz. Haye on Points for me.

Dirrell hhmmmm That punch he took shortens careers..Ward v Dirrell will be a cracking fight, providing he can come back from that Punch. That was shocking to watch. I hope he is ok...

Hope Dirrell is okay was a nasty cheap shot. He was so out of it and confused he definitely suffered a major concussion he didn't know how it ended.

Abraham called him an actor.

Oh well was a tough fight and Dirrell did get dropped even though it was ruled a slip.. would have liked to see the end of the last round and a half but Abraham doesn't deserve a finish after that move.

                                       

I bet Dirrell and it was an obvious acting job. I'll take the win, but I think the kid will always look back at this fight and wish he made a better decision.

AA should have had a point take and boxing fans should have gotten to see the rest of the fight. The whole fight was comical to be honest, them looking at the cut like they were seriously considering stopping it was a joke too. That cut was nowhere near worthy of a stoppage. I'm just gonna take my money and snicker at the acting performance by Dirrell.

So you feel Dirrell felt he was going to get knocked out so he pulled that stunt?

Abraham was coming on strong but if you watch it closely.. I don't think he faked it.

The cut was a joke when does the doctor TREAT the cut? He was applying pressure on it and stopping the bleeding.. doctor is only there to see if the fighter can continue nothing else.

Sad to see it end that way wanted a result in the fight.
