Pacman v Cotto

Never to early to get this started. The one thing that strikes me just how bigger Cotto is here compared to Pacman in this clip above. People that compare Cotto to Ricky Hatton do not know boxing. Cotto is MILES better. And Cotto is huge at 147! Hatton was not. So he is a far superior boxer to Hatton, has a far better defence then Hatton (would not be hard) and will be the biggest 'live' guy pacman has fought. Basically Manny has a huge challenge ahead. Adding to the fact we are hearing negative stories from training camp and the training camp of Pacman's being in the Philippines, I am starting to see this as a 50/50 fight. So in my eyes the value is backing Cotto.
 
I believe 2 years ago Cotto is simply to big to win this fight. I believe the Cotto that beat sugar Shane wins this fight as he looks just too big to me and we know normally a good big guy beats a very good little guy. But this is not the same Cotto. He just looks like an ageing boxer and his past 3 fights (especially Marg and Clottley). He's defence and reflexes are not what they were. So this is advantage pacman.
 
Taking all this into account Cotto's size advantage, his skills not being what they were, against a Pacman who I am not sure will be 100% prepared for this fight means it is a VERY hard fight to call.
 
I see two outcomes. Lot of experts see a Hagler v Hearns 3 round tear up. I don't see that. I think both these guys have too much respect for each other and while we will see some awesome Exchanges, I don't believe we will see them until later in the fight.
 
The outcomes I see therefore or either a Cotto KO or Pacman on points. Both are available right now at +300. We know Manny has power and he has taken this power up through the ranks. Cotto is huge at the weight though and unlike Rich (who questions Cotto chin) I think Cotto has a rock solid chin. He is easier to hit then he was but only one fighter has put him on the canvas and kept him there. That was Antonio M who would be 20 pounds heavier then pacman and we know have to wonder how authentic that victory was after what happened with his gloves with Sugar Shane. Cotto is a warrior and I just can't see a guy as small as Pacman blasting him out of there. I think Pacmans better workrate will in a 116-112 or 115-113 decision. I can't see Miguel being able to out decision Pacman (for a lot of reasons) so I believe the only way Miguel wins this fight is by KO. Cotto can punch so if he catches a guy as small as Pacquaio, he is going to hurt him and I see Pacman having a few scary moments in this fight. I really do.
 
I will be taking pacman on points in a thriller but Cotto backers I certainly would not try to hard to talk you out of backing your horse. I will also put a small saver on the Cotto KO but my main recommendation is for an under par Pacman to win on points in what could easily be seen as a conterversional decision. I think e may even see Pacman v Cotto 2 in the spring..

 Very good.  And the video post was interesting as well.  Seems to be a mutual respect for one another and the theme of "giving the fans a show/good fight" may lead to a distance fight as both fighters will be determined to last and outdo the other.

For me the over 9.5 in the Pacquiao/Cotto fight is the play of the month.Everyone are saying Pacquiao will destroy Cotto in 5 ,6 7,based on his last fight,thats why Bookmakers make huge money, and they want you to think Paquiao gonna win this fight early as well. I really think 9.5 is a big steal in this fight, WITH +++ ODDS,its a gift.

Pacquiao is training to box,and it would be crazy to fight toe to toe with Cotto,If you watched Pacquiao vs DEla Hoya, you can really see how much respect Pacquiao had,he didnt go toe to toe until he noticed De la Hoya was nothing but an old man, and that was in the late rounds.

I think Pacman is the faster and smarter fighter, but if Cotto is in top shape and stays with the jab he could wear Pacman down late in the fight gl

Cuts could be a big factor in this one.  Cotto is known to gash up easily and you can be sure that Pac is going to be marking him up pretty badly.  I worry that the over prop could be affected by a cut stoppage, and not a KO stoppage.

I'm not so sure that Cotto's reflexes have slowed as some say, but it's obvious his ring demeanor has changed. He's lost some aggressiveness and he seems to be "thinking" more than usual. Do yall remember Cotto's arrogant looks when he fought (before Margarito). He was a confident man who believed in his power. I believe Cotto will be back in his killer mindset Nov 14th as he's even stated himself that Pacman is too small. Let's not forget that Cotto started his training camp a month early. Cotto will take Pacman's nuts early and Pacman will stick-n-move to play it safe. Cotto by unam dec.

Both of these guys know how important this fight is.  It is the biggest fight in the last five years easily.  I think they will respect each other.  We all know pacman is smaller than Cotto.  They will feel each other out.  I really like the over here.  I could see the fight being stopped in the later rounds but that won't matter.  As long as it hits the tenth I will be happy.  I will going over 9.5.  I can get +125 at 5dimes right now.  Nicky

Mack have you seen the first installment of the 24/7 series on hbo covering this fight. Questions that ran thru my mind was.

1. Has pacman became less focused?

2. Will his training at home with a storm coming every other day affect him?

3. Is this a mike Tyson in japan fight waiting to happen all over again?

4. Is pacman and  Roach not seeing eye to eye?

5. Is cotto that big or that out of shape?

6. Is cotto having to much fun with his boys?

7. Is pacman over confident in his ability now, since he has been knocking out so called Big Name fighters?

Those are just thoughts though, but with all that said I will not go against pacman,

I think this will be the fight that make us know for sure that cotto is not the same fighter. Our eyes has been telling us that but our minds keep being nolstalgic.

Boxingking I saw it and I have to see the rumours of dis content in the camp proved to be true. Having the camp in the philippines is the last thing Freddie Roach wanted. That is so clear. This is the reason I am on the over and Pacman on points. I think Pacman wins and does not look overly impressive doing so. I think at his best Pacman wins easily either on Points or a late stoppage (wearing Cotto down). I don't believe he is at his best now or will be on fight night. He is obviously fit but for a big fight you need to me mentally ready and with everything going on I don't believe how he can be...

What happened to Cotto on points as a "live dog"?  I guess if you back both horses in different threads you can claim you were right on one of them.

Yes the money every one is eyeing from the result of a Pacman win.

Too many hands, too many cooks, definately too many dicks trying to screw this donkey and they all want cotto to stand by and just hold the tail. I bet you even the mayor of vegas wants Pacman to win just so that he can entertain the biggest fight in the last 10 years in his struggling city of person, addicts, gamblers and out of work dealers and soon to be homeless heavily indebted home owners.


Cotto should win this fight on paper really easily. Too big, got a great chin on him (and puh LEEEZ dont bring up that Margarito fight) Matter of fact right now, there isnt a single fighter standing that would take that kind of punishment and last as long as Cotto did. (and this while taking rocks to the head from Margaritos plaster pads..the bitch ass!!!)

Pacman will not be able to hurt Cotto at all in this fight. It is shocking how many people give credit to boxers for beating up on ridiculously lousy over the hill talent  and crowning them kings. I couldnt believe my ears when every boxing analyst declared Pacman the best fighter in the world after he took out Oscar....(Am i the only one who recalls Mayweather literally laughing at this old con man in the ring in the 7th and 8th round,  teasing him and taunting him like a bitch two years before he fought Pacman?)

Cotto for 3 units..(he will probably get robbed by the refs, or judges and fight will be bogusly awarded to Pacman if he doesnt knock him out)
