Why do I get the feeling this fight will be like Tyson vs Holyfield 2 and Bowe vs Golata. Hope they get by the 6th round so Hopkins can wipe this fck shut.

I certainly wouldn't bet on this fight. To me Dawson is a terrible matchup for Hopkins. Dawson is HUGE for a light heavy weight. Indeed he has the frame to do with Haye and Adamek did and move to heavyweight. Dawson also has very quick hands and is more then able to fight on the inside if need be.

The only reason I am not throwing the house on Dawon, is I worry about his mental strength. its clear the last 3 rounds against Pascal that he figured Pacal out but why the fcuk did it take 9 rounds? Against older lesser fighters like Glen Johnson and Tarver he again struggled to be truly dominant.

I could never back this guy at - 300...B hop is old, has a bum shoulder and u winder when he will say enough. Bottom line i dont trust either and wont even watch the fight...

It will probably be as good as Leonard-Duran 3, I just can't see this fight being worth watching, if something crazy doesn't happen it will be a boring decision win by Dawson, just close enough for Bhop to think he won and continue to fight even though he should probably go out before he gets hurt. I was a fan until the last fight, no way should there have been a rematch.

not sure why you guys are not looking forward to this one, to me  dawson will be all over bernard and all of hopkins slick moves will be for nothing, after the first 4 or 5 rounds I truly believe that this one will become a war, this WILL be the fight when bernard will get his ass handed to him, I am a hopkins fan, but all of his comments over the past couple of years have started to piss me and he actually deserves a beatdown and I am sure dawson will give him one. hopkins will have 2 choices, either fight with dawson or run for dear life and try to make it the distance and I am confident that bernard will not go out running, when he see's that all of the feints and defensive moves will not work he will have to fight or simply be embarrased by a hungry and pissed off dawson, this one will be an exciting fight, dawson will be looking for the ko here and although I do not think he will get it, he will give bernard a good going over and for the first time since the first mercado fight bernard will take a lot of punishment.

this one is like when the romans used to put their slaves in there against a hungry young lion, it was a sacrifice for the fans and to me so is this fight. bernard will be lead to slaughter.

Not looking forward to the fight because I was stupid enough to pay for the first "fight", BHop did a WWE move and got injured. Would of had a lot more respect for BHop if he decided to atleast finish the round. He was looking for a way out (like Cintron vs Williams, when Cintron jumped out of the ring), meanwhile BHop got $4 million for that. Both of these fighters make ugly fights, hopefully this will be better than expected, I highly doubt it though. BHop avoided fighting Chad for years and now we know why.

I agree with this 100%. I don't feel Hopkins has a chance and will get his ass kicked, much like he would have if he didn't "injure" himself.

Remember my post about Hopkins when you wanted to know why I was disrespecting a legend... his mouth has made disrespectful. At his age I hope he doesn't think playing the bad mouth bad guy will earn him more in fights at almost 50! lol

After 6r rounds the old man is warmed up and Dawson is in trouble. If this was an old 15 round death match, Hopkins easy win. We never got past 2 rounds, Watch Hopkins late. Good luck B hop. Best fighter ever......................

You're a joke and don't watch boxing if you think Hopkins is in Dawson league.  Prime Hopkins loses to Dawson every single day of the week.

If you think that dawson would beat a prime hopkins, then you need to go and lay down for a long time and then when you wake up try to become an "expert" at something else, hopkins will go down as one of the greatest ever, and dawson, well he is one of the top 20 fighters fighting today and that is where it ends, in 100 years from now people will still talk about bernard, no one will talk about dawson in 2112,  dawson is a good athlete who chose boxing to make a living, hopkins is a fighter all the way and one of the greatest technical fighters who ever lived, bernard is as smart as any fighter to ever lace em up, right their with tommy loughran, salvador sanchez, benny leonard, joe gans, willie pep. archie moore, alexis arguello, ray leonard ect. dawson will win this one convincingly and that's because he is fighting an old man.  against a prime hopkins he would not win a round.

Prime Hopkins LOL...who did a prime Hopkins fight?  Blown up WW like Trinidad?  Face it anytime Popkins faced an athletic fighter he lost.  Jermaine Taylor has no skills at all, he is just a athletic fighter and Popkins couldn't beat him. Dawson would wipe the floor with Popkins.

you are the only person that I have ever heard to doubt the legacy of hopkins, he is a LEGEND, take that same criticism and point it a dawson's career, all of dawsons big wins other than adamek, came against guys who were well past their best, tarver, harding, johnson. we could talk about the loss to pascal, like I said in 2112 people will talk about hopkins, people will not even talk about dawson 10 years from now, dawson is a good fighter, but not a great one, when it comes to this sport you are a novice in terms of your knowledge and I think that everyone who posts on this form would agree. your argument here only magnifies your lack of knowledge.

good, you could not tell me when Hopkins was "prime" and you could not tell me the best fighter he faced in his prime.

Popkins is a fraud, a fighter who is fighting for money hiding around that he's fighting for legacy.  A guy who tried to criminally weasel his way out of the fight with Dawson only for him to be ruled to rematch him.

This guy couldn't even beat Jermain Taylor and you think he can match up with Bad Chad?

I've met Chad Dawson in person 2x and his phycial nature is what impressed me the most.  The guy is HUGE.  Gary Shaw was not lying when he could see Dawson being a HW one day.  His length, his muscle bellies, and his hands are enermous for a 175 lber.  I've seen him fight live and it's much diffrent then seeing him on TV.  The way he moves and glides around the ring is really something to see.  Almost like seeing a Derby horse in front of you, it's quite the specimen.

Dawson is a naturally born fighter, like Mayweather, that has gifted physical ability.  Hopkins is a taught, crafty fighter, which is why he will always struggle against an athletic fighter.  Taylor, Jones Jr, Dawson.

Well said!

Hopkins at 37 would beat any fighter in the world that was not on coke, Calzaghi. Hopkins won the first fight vs Taylor or draw. This guy showed us all a style that you could make a movie out of. This Hopkins escaped Porto Rico by roof top and robbed trains to furnish apartments. Chad Dawson after 6 rounds your going to see some Hagler with toes. Gd Luck.

The day you met Dawson, was that also the day you and Kendall Holt were in the streets drinking 40oz and fighting with your shirts off???

Also, when people talk about a fighters prime, they usually mean athletically. Many fighters are less athletic, but much better and patient with age so "PRIME", has to be defined. Also, at different stages fighters although maybe more athletic, were not as groomed to beat opponents they could ten years after their physical prime. Hopkins was tops 160lbs at his physical peak, so a match-up with Dawson would never have happened. With age your metabolism slows and you either gain weight and convert to muscle, or get fat.

Hopkins will go down as one of the best lbs-for-lbs fighters ever. Dawson not likely. I will give him the chance still, as maybe if he fights and is dominant for 10 more years, then he can be mentioned. I've followed Dawson since 2005 and watched him mature, but he has a lot to accomplish to be considered a great fighter, then a possible HOF, then a HOF, then a top lbs-for-lbs. He is one step up a long ladder.

You only did one analysis once... copied mine.

My first brief POST  #30 (B Hop and underdog? Let's get serious) on Hopkins-Dawson on 9/26/2011 5:55:32 PM.
Your new topic POST #1 ( Hopkins has no chance at winning - pound dawson) on Hopkins-Dawson on 9/26/2011 11:05:30 PM.

Usually you post about frauds, basically fake stories about fighters (like Kendall Holt), or Margarito and post nothing analytical, just something like ... HE WILL DESTROY HIM!

The one analysis you did you copied my thread about Hopkins vs Dawson I, and my 4 key match-up points. You denied this, but it was the only halfway decent post you ever made and it came 6 hours after mine on a different thread. I will post the COPY/EDIT/PASTE of you trying to hide the fact you pawned by post off as your own!!! LOL

I appreciate you at least denied any part of seeing my post. Strange as it was the first time you did anything that involved handicapping boxing.

It will be interesting to see how he behaves after 3-4 rounds when he realizes he can't win.against the typically slow starting Dawson. Chad in 9.

A rare post from a sharp guy here. Brutally honest assessment of the situation. I just hope Hopkins doesn't do "just enough" in losing a decision that he fights a few more times.

A clear, dominant win by Chad sets up the division to be defined in the future by several great fights that can and will actually go off.

Walk: any play on Abril ? The over looks solid. Thoughts?

While the over is solid, I worry about Rios going all out to avoid a drawn out fight, as he once again struggles on the scales. However, at this point, I'm not quite sure how valid his attempts at making weight really are. His move up in weight was coming regardless, not this will clearly be his last fight at lightweight.

Abril is vulnerable inside, with a rather thin frame, much like Acosta. The problem is that Abril has the movement and technically ability to avoid letting Rios get inside at will and stay in his power punching range.

In short, I don't see Rios looking good in this fight under any circumstance outside of an early steamrolling of Abril. We all now Rios is going to eventually lose to a technically solid, sturdy fighter. Considering Abril being a late replacement and Rios's general lack of focus, this screams letdown and/or upset special.

I've bet Abril quite large, and he'll either get rushed out early or completely dominate and expose Rios's technical flaws. I'm expecting the latter.
