5 years ago Floyd had only been a pro for 9 years and hadn't exactly had career defining fights yet. He was 33-0 btw. Also, the welter weight division was being run by one man and one man alone for a while…Oscar. The division had never seen attention like it was getting at that time and everybody was trying to get a slice of lime, considering how active Hoya was. But Floyd was selling tickets, he was headlining shows as far back as Corrales, which was the 1st time I had seen Mayweather.

Mandaly Bay, the venue where Mayweather was the headline act seats approx. 12k. Boardwalk Hall, the venue where Gatti played 2nd fiddle has been recently expanded [as of 2005] to seat 13.8k for concerts and 10.5k for hockey. Not sure what size they use for boxing. The amount of butts in seats in relatively the same. Not sure how you can assume Gatti is/was a bigger draw. He wasn't headlining shows on his home court whereas Mayweather was headlining shows on a venue that wasn't on his home court. Does that support your argument?

8 years into Gatti's career he was getting dinged up by Manfredy and losing to Ivan Robinson as an undercard fight to Vargas headlining the show, even at 13-0. To top it OFF, Gatti was playing 2nd fiddle IN Jersey for both the Robinson fights [actually 3rd fiddle in one of those]. 2nd fiddle on your home court, your biggest draw. You can't even count those numbers because he wasn't the headline act. If Gatti was the real draw he would have been the top billing act, which he wasn't according to the facts.

Gatti was a local draw in Jersey and the only time he got to Vegas he got smoked by Hoya. Isn't it fair to say Gatti's career defining fights were against Mickey Ward? When people say Gatti, I got 50 says their thinking Ward trilogy. Just so happens the Ward fights took place after losing to Hoya.

Gatti was 10 years into his career by the time he fought Hoya. Guess who Mayweather fought at the 11 year mark? Oscar De La Hoya.

My point is Floyd, himself, is a much bigger draw. What card did Gatti headline as a favorite? His next fight after Hoya was as an early undercard on the Mosley.Forrest fight. Your not counting those number either are you? Not even sure Gatti was televised in the fight against Millett. Could be wrong on that though.

Also, 5 years ago Gatti had been a pro for 14 years. A pro career goes about a 14-16 year mark. Some guys take it to 20 but are far past it in almost every single case. 5 year ago Mayweather had only been professional for 9 years.

Gatti had a far longer period of activity to be a bigger draw yet Floyd was consistently headlining shows [in less years of activity] whereas Gatti was playing 2nd and 3rd fiddle on his home court of all places. I believe its fair to say people were going to Mayweather fights to see Floyd; in all due respect, was he not selling "tickets" the headline act? Gatti on the other hand was fighting undercards where the limelight belonged to the likes of Vargas, Mosley, Forrest, etc.

Cotto is a slightly different case as he was representing an entire country after Trinidad bowed out. Cotto was never really adopted as the receiver of Tito's torch anyway. I got a lot of boys from PR and thats them talking. But even throwing his name out there is an erroneous effort. PPV buys for Cotto.Mosley was in/around 400k and Mosley.Mayweather did 1.4M. Thats 4x greater.
