118-110 is a joke.  Idk what that judge was watching

When I heard it was unanimous, I thought for sure it be for Paulie.

this is why I hate ever betting boxing. Paulie clearly won that fight. Too much politics. This is actually a sport that is fixed. Alot of other people say baseball and football are fixed. But this is the most fixed sport.

We all know Paulie got robbed (and I hate his cocky ass).  But for HBO to puss and bitch out by not calling that a blatant clip job is worse.  And they did it a few moths ago in a closer fight that was a draw and went 3-4 rounds for the "promoted" HBO fighter.

What a joke.  And props to Paulie for letting Golden Shower Promotions have it.

HBO and GBP are business partners. It would be unacceptable to directly criticize them in a situation such as this. But Lennox and Kellerman both said they had Paulie winning, while Lederman scored it 7-5 for Paulie.

Come on guys we all knew what the cards were going to say. That fight went as well as possible for Malignaggi with the cut, and he had no chance in Texas without a knockout.

    yeah WTF was that Max?

I loved Malignaggi going off in the ring with Max that was great. He told the truth. That was ridiculous bullshit.

Side note...not many things funnier than Lennox Lewis trying to pronounce Malignaggi...he called him Malginanno, Manginangi

Exactly walktheline- just what we watch fights for - the retarded wisdom of the marketplace in swampy Houston.  I lost a ton of respect for Max tonight and Papa too.  Lamps would have had some harsh words about the decision and Manny too.

I mean Paulie eats shit and concedes every single strategic point in the contract (ring, weight, refs, etc.), still clearly wins the fight by 1 or 2 rounds and then has to endure Max Kellerman's serving too?  Fuck that.

Meanwhile Oscar and BHop laugh it up.  You'd have to be nuts to buy a pay per view fight these days for $79.99.

If Diaz wouldve gotten it 115-113 on all 3 cards you could say  "okay some rounds were close, whatever" But 118-110 is so completely criminal and disgraceful that you cant blame Malignaggi for going nuts. Maybe he knows people and Gale Van Hoy had better be careful Thats one stereotype we Italians like. Its good to know that people think we may have relatives that will kill you

First let me say I lost on the outcome.

Second let me say that Paulie spoke for a lot of fighters that continue to get robbed.

That judge should be ashamed of himself.

Who would have been ok with that? There just isn't anything to say Diaz should have gotten a draw, let alone a win. Maybe, just MAYBE close scores would have made it better. I would still be outraged, but not as much. The audacity of the clown judge that Malignaggi was calling out to go ahead and fuck him is disgusting. If they EVER judge another fight, I'll be shocked. Then again, after tonight not much will be shocking.

The balls on that judge make me want to actually write a hand written letter to the Texas state athletic commission.

And who in their right mind thinks Diaz can last 4 rounds with Marquez or Mayweather?

Cue Ocho Cinco - "child, please".

    Agree LRM -

Lennox was classic tonight.  He said something about getting lazy in the ring and it costing you (referring to his KO by Rahman), then he pulled a Larry Merchant when he made the Bull/Matador analogy before Papa repeated it 15 seconds later and then he murdered Paulie's name twice after the bout.  All while being the only one there to say Paulie was right.  Lederman would have too if they let him.

And yes - "child please" has not been played out yet - I love hearing it in obscure places.  Fantasic Ocho.

And Diaz says he wants the winner of that PPV fight!  What a joke.  I mean wow. Boxing had a period, IMO, where the fights were fair and always fun to watch.  Even when Hopkins was clenching his way to win after win, I thought boxing had come back from the doldrums post Leonard/Hearns/Hagler (during Oscar's later days).

Now these last two HBO fights that were highway robberies.  I wish I could remember the HBO contract fighter that was awarded a win a few months ago, but I cannot.  And he has won since. Shit.

I think you are probably talking about Berto getting the nod against Collazo.  That was a pretty darn close fight and Berto got the nod, there was one real bad card though if I remember right.

Tonight's cards were a joke, plain and simple.  Hopefully Paulie's post fight rant got some people's attention on what is going on in Texas.  It is pretty bad.  They continue to astound me on how they give Lawrence Cole every freaking big fight in the state.  He doesn't even know the rules.  You would think they would have learned a couple of years ago when he told JMM he was ahead on the cards before the fight was stopped due to a butt and was suspended.  Tonight he consults the judges on whether a cut was cause by a punch or a butt?  Come on, you are paid to make that decision.  As the HBO crew said, you cannot ask the judges what they thought and play dumb.

    Fullbrights -

You're right.  It was that Berto fight and I thought that was a draw all the way at worst and one judge had a huge win.

And you hit the nail on the head about what we all overlooked in this thread - Cole.  Always out of position and a day late/dollar short.

Yeah, it's the commission in the state and it's ridiculous; hopefully tonight sheds light on the core problem.  They are willing to cave to pressure from whoever controls the money.  Just another example; what is the only state in the US where Edwin Valero is cleared to fight even though he has the past medical history of a blood clot on his brain?  You guessed it, Texas.  Think Bob Arum has anything to do with that.  I'm no medical expert and the kid can fight, but just another example of what goes on in that state.
