This fight is getting bad press and this may be Floyd's way of creating more buzz. They can't sell out the arena, it's overpriced and tickets are much less on the open market, which is embarrassing for a big fight and horrible press.

I read where
both fighters will present their case at the Nevada Athletic Commission's next
meeting scheduled for August 16 ,,,if they want to use eight ounce gloves.

There would have to be a special exception made for that to happen because it is mandatory in Nevada for fights over 147 pounds to be contested with 10 oz gloves.

Correct....
The regulation also stipulates that the commission will only be allowed
to deviate from the ruling is if there is a title on the line...and for that reason I feel it will stay at 10 oz. gloves..

this fight aint going past 7. mayweather by KO easy.
I really can't see it going that far ..McGregor has only fought a total of 37 MAA rounds in 24 fights ...avg 1.5 rounds a fight .. granted they are 5 min rounds ...but still ..he's not conditioned to go a lot of rounds. If the fight goes over 3 rounds I will be surprised...

Yeah 16th fellas we'll find out. Decision. If you're wagering on this fight you have to watch if the line moves, especially the over/unders, go the distance, and knockout odds.
So check the odds before the decision with screen shots or whatever then come back later and see what's changed. Or if it hasn't changed.
According to Malignaggi most important about switch to 8 oz gloves is it's harder to block punches. Less padding.

Commission Approved! I am fairly surprised. Lighter weight gloves mean not only is there more power and speed, but also effects defense. Smaller gloves means less area to cover up.
I think this favors Connor is a couple of ways. 1. More power for him is a bonus if he can somehow connect with Floyd. Makes the crazy Connor KO a little more likely. 2. If Floyd is use to using 10oz for defense, then there will be some extra room to hit him instead of the gloves. Changes what punches and how many punches can get through.
I am on Floyd still, but everything I can think of about smaller gloves favors Connor.

The 40-year-old Mayweather mostly has fought with eight-ounce gloves
during his 20-year pro career, but has used 10-ounce gloves for his
three fights contested above 147 pounds (Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto
and Canelo Alvarez). The 29-year-old McGregor is used to fighting in
four-ounce gloves, the standard for professional mixed martial arts
matches.

The line on McGregor dropped after this was announced. The public assuming the change to 8 oz gloves will help McGregor. It won't. In fact Floyd fought a lot of his career with 8 oz gloves, it makes no difference to him. If anything the switch to 8 oz favors Floyd winning by stoppage even more. With that added extra pop i'm more confident than ever that Floyd by stoppage is free money.

So McGregor odds dropped, but odds of going the distance barely moved if at all despite more knockout power in the gloves. Strange, right?
So what can we make of this. A more even fight, more likely to go the distance as Floyd can't put away McGregor by dominating the fight. McGregor is less likely to quit, an time is McGregor's enemy.
Conclusion the glove change helps McGregor, if we're assuming the odds are true and follow the likely result.

they could wear gardening gloves and it wouldn't matter.
That reminds me of a story from highschool. My friend and I spent an hour trying to convince our other buddy that giving another guy a handjob wasn't so bad. He finally admitted he would do it for $100K but he wanted to wear a gardening glove.

Im a huge mayweather fan, but i think conor has a chance here, he really wants to take may weather reputation away, but hey it only takes one good punch to knock someone out

Floyd knows Conor is no threat so he doesn't care about glove size. He knows the general public are absolute buffoons when it comes to this stuff and they'll eat up the smaller gloves like a bunch of morons. It's to sell more PPVs. No other reason. He already knows the result of the fight is him winning.
As for the "Floyd doesn't knock anyone out crap". Only a casual would say something like that. Ignorant to the fact that he spent the first 20 some fights of his career knocking out guys who weren't world class fighters. Guys like McGregor. Against legit world level boxers he made the decision to get on the backfoot and avoid danger. McGregor is nowhere near that level. So no such caution is warranted.

Go watch Floyd vs Corrales from back in the day and tell me Floyd has no power.
The beating McGregor is going to take will be 10 times worse than that. He's going to get hurt badly.
Can't believe this line is as short as it is. Floyd was a -8000 favorite vs Berto in his last fight. And Berto would kill McGregor.
Anyone betting money on McGregor is absolutely insane. If the odds were 1,000,000 to 1 then i can understand. At 3 to 1 its quite possibly the worst wager in the history of planet earth.
