I just can't help but think that a line of 1 is fishy.... The Bengals should be getting 3.5 here...

Ugh... What to do... I'm a Philly fan, and I broke my own rule last week about betting on my own team. The ONLY reason i'm placing a small play on this game is because I had a great weekend.. that being said.....
The Eagles are known for having rough stretches every year... Anyone remember when they TIED the browns last year? I have a feeling they're in for a 3 game slide, the media is gonna jump on them, QB controversy ensues (Kolb v McNabb v Vick) then they turn it around and have to make a run for the playoffs.. This has been Philly's story every year.. as much as I hate to say it, if Philly is giving up more than a score, the smart play might be on WAS... Of course that could be over thinking it. WAS sucks.. we know it, they know it, the eagles know it. Add the fact that no Haynesworth on D tonight (he's game time decision last I checked) and a new play caller... well..... Phil -7 all day... or was +8,9... ugh...

Ugh.. what a crapfest of a game.. I like the Under here.. With the performance the jets put up last week of run v pass, you've gotta think they'll lean on the run more.... God knows which way Oakland is gonna go with this one.. I think Oakland might be deserving of a few more points towards the spread, but it's not inconceivable to think they wouldn't at least cover. Sanchez is a rookie QB on the road... Unless your last name is Flacco or Ryan, usually those are bad bets these last few years.... With Run v Run going on, the clock will move...

I agree with ddd,
How can you not jump on this right now.. it's no different than when IND was only favored by 4 to jax the other week... The Jets are ok, but at the end of the day they still have a rookie QB.. Brees is no rookie.. i'll bet SD would gladly go back in time to trade off Rivers instead of him in a heartbeat. SD's defense seems to have fixed themselves up a bit from last year.. everyone who jumps on this game late is gonna be pissed when the line moves to 7.5 by sunday. |

I've already said it once, but i'll throw my two cents in one more time. If you must bet this game, Denver seems like the play. I don't understand how people can say they're not a 5-0 team... for 5 weeks, they were in the lead when the game ended. It's like last year when TN made their run and everyone was saying that they weren't as good as their record. Here's my logic behind it...
Denver has a new head coach and QB.. The San Diego/Denver trends don't hold any weight. The trends you're reading might as well say San Diego/Mike Shanahan Denver has been solid against the run, and if they can contain Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Joey Gallaway then I'm sure they can deal with SD's receivers. Denver is 5-0 and getting points... I thought trap games usually have higher spreads in the 6-7.5 range? How many times can Rivers throw the team on his back and make a run at a game, only to lose, and not be mentally broken? If this season keeps going like this, he's gonna have the confidence of Joey Harrington by week 8. I've gotta lean on Denver getting points until they disappoint. God bless San Diego if they win, but I just can't see betting them until they turn things around. |

No way the Cleveland Steamers can hang. You don't like it at 14? Tease it down to 8 and throw the other 6 on baltimore to make them a + 9 against the Vikes..
TEASE : Pitt -8 against cleveland and Baltimore +9 against the Vikings |

Guys, Seriously, don't over think this one. How can you not take a 5-0 team that's GETTING points. Denver trends don't hold much weight this year with a new coach and new QB. Denver shut down the Pats receiving core which is FAR better than anything SD has shown. If it's not a complete blowout, it's gonna be close, and in a close game, you take the points...

do not make the same mistake people made betting against Denver at home in week 5. 4-0 teams will probably lose at some point.. but betting for them to lose at home because "they haven't played anyone" is BS. Giants haven't blown anyone out, and the Saints went on the road to Philly and won. If you HAVE to bet this game, take a 4-0 team that is playing at home with a line that's less than a TD. Gambling 101.

Ugh... another Eagles fan here.. I hate to say it but Cowboys all day.. Don't need to relist the reasons.. Also, got a friend who works in their office and Jerry has let it be known that they need to win to fill seats at their new stadium.. dropping a turd to the Bucs in the opener is just not going to happen.

Wow..Great advice.. last game of the NFL season and the advice is don't bet it.. although I will say the over is the safer of the bets available. Looking at this year's playoffs, AZ is the only team with #1 receivers actually playing like #1 receivers. The Colts with Wayne and Harrison were 1 and done, and anything Steve Smith did was eradicated by Jake Delhomme's fascination with throwing to red jerseys. Larry Fitzgerald is playing possessed, Edge is playing like he wants a legitimate contract, Kurt Warner has shown that he can take cheep shots, pick apart a blitz, win a superbowl, hold a 9-2 postseason record... oh.. and with 2 weeks does anyone doubt Anquan Boldin won't be ready to give 100%? If their defense can pull out one more game of playing better than they actually are, AZ can win or at least cover. Neil Rackers has proven he's good for the 50 yarders to keep the points steady for AZ. The saying is that defense wins championships and if that's true, Pitt should grab another ring.. but AZ as a 6 point dog? Jump on it with a tease while you can...
AZ +12.5 and the over at 41 teased? If you can grab it, do it.

Philly and the over here. Anyones defense is going to look brilliant when the QB throws the ball to them 5 times in a single game *cough* Delhomme *cough*. Think about arguably the best two defenses in the league in the Steelers and Ravens. How many times this year did they get 6 turnovers in one game? Arizona's D has been looking good because other teams have played HORRIDLY against them, not because they're suddenly this reborn retooled amazing defense. The Philly D led by Brian Dawkins and Asante Samuel are going to slow down the Cards enough, and McNabb with his slew of #2 receivers are going to pick apart a suspect AZ secondary. Also, both teams have great kickers so the points should be steady the entire game. Take the over.

I'd love to see how many touches Smith got in the 2nd halves of the games this year.

As much as I want the Raiders to win so that my Eagles have a shot at the playoffs, it's just not going to happen. Yes the Raiders have been playing well (for them), but Chucky will stamp them out.. -13 seems like a lot but when the game ends 31-10 TB everyone will wonder how they didn't bet the team that's been 6-1 at home against a Horrid Raiders team flying to the east coast for a 1pm game. Wouldn't be surprised to see a DTD on the TB's part either..

Forte ran through the pack and Kevin Smith will do the same... still backing Orlovsky as well.. Detroit to cover if not win. Green Bay just wants to go home

Jax to cover if not win outright.. Balt is already thinking about their playoffs and this game means nothing to them.. Jack Del Rio is a spiteful bastard and will have his team firing..

I don't buy Mangini throwing the game.. if every schmuck in the world thinks that could happen, then of course it would be on the player's minds as well.. what NFL player would respect a coach who would throw a game because of a grudge?.. Even if it is against the most hated team in the NFL of the last few years.. However.. with Favre under center, he may not have to.. Favre has been playing awful as of late and Pennington has been winning games.. not to mention that he probably wants to stick it to the team who pushed him aside for a 300 year old dinosaur whos biggest contribution has been selling Jerseys.. Had Chad been the QB in NY, at the very least their record would be the same. The Jets have been good this year because of all the other pre season acquisitions.. Favre was a moot point.. At the end of the day, Favre only cares about himself (anyone remember when he called out Donald Driver for holding out, only to watch him get injured for the year?) and if you don't think he's already wondering if he'll end up after his contract ends you're sadly mistaken.. Miami no matter what..

I'll admit i'm an Eagles fan so this post will probably be a little biased, but at the end of the day Philly knows that they can ruin Dallas's season with a loss... however... I know people in the front office in Dallas, and Jerry has been letting everyone know up front and on the team that they need to sell tickets... a lot.. for their new monstrosity of a stadium.. and that comes with wins... unfortunately that won't happen in Philly.. Every time the Eagles get embarrassed they come back firing.. The entire philly offense (except Westbrook) has to prove themselves after last weeks embarrassment.. If a miracle happens and the Raiders somehow beat TB this game is a lock for Philly..

With Orlovsky starting under center, the only game he hasn't covered the spread against was Washington back in Week 8... and that spread was only missed by 1 point. While both teams seasons are over, Orlovsky is looking to showcase himself as either the starter in Detroit, or a better situation somewhere else. He'll be leaving it all out there.. and if you don't agree with that... don't you think the #1 offense against an awful defense should be favored by more than 6.5? If nothing else, that line is fishy... Detroit and the over all day.
