Mystik Dan odds to run in Preakness Stakes 2024
We're starting to get a better picture of the 2024 Preakness horses with just over a week to go, as Mystik Dan's status is no longer up in the air. Trainer Ken McPeek told reporters on Saturday that the son of Goldencents will try his luck at Pimlico on Saturday, May 18.
“All systems go,” McPeek told reporters. “The horse is doing fantastic,”
McPeek sowed seeds of doubt about Mystik Dan running in the Preakness on Sunday when he told reporters that the horse wasn't committed to the race and that a previous attempt to race Mystik Dan on short rest backfired.
As of now, the only guide bettors have toward the Preakness odds are the results of the Future Pool 2, which was conducted during the run-up to the Kentucky Derby. Mystik Dan closed as a 45-1 long shot, while Bob Baffert-trained Muth closed as the 7-2 betting favorite.

The Triple Crown has only been won 13 times through 148 runnings of the Preakness, the youngest of the three legs. Justify was the last horse to win the Triple Crown in 2018, three years after American Pharoah did so in 2015. American Pharoah snapped a 37-year drought that dated back to Affirmed's win in 1978.

Authentic was the last horse to win the Kentucky Derby and the Breeders' Cup Classic, but it was during a pandemic-altered schedule that saw the Derby take place on the first Saturday of September rather than May.
