I don't know how accurate these are, but they are in a Yahoo! article... obviously take with a grain of salt, but if these are accurate -- holy **** is this bad:
"We have a monster jobs problem, and young people are the biggest
losers," Andrew Sum, an economist with the Center for Labor Market
Studies at Northeastern University told the Associated Press.
Just 55.3 percent of people between 16 and 29 were employed in 2010
on average, the according to new figures released by the Census Bureau.
That represents an enormous drop from 67.3 percent in 2000. Among teens
the figure was less than 30 percent.
The result? Young people are delaying
taking the steps that traditionally represent movement into adult life:
moving to a new place, getting married, and buying a new home. Just 4.4
percent of 18- to 34-year olds moved across state lines -- again, the
lowest level since World War Two (though such moves have been declining since long before the recent downturn,
it's worth noting). Roughly 5.9 million Americans between 25 and 34
lived with their parents. That's up by 25 percent since before the
recession began in late 2007. (Men are nearly twice as likely as women
to move back in with Mom and Dad.) The marriage rate for those between
25 and 34 fell to 44.2 percent, also a new low. And home ownership
declined for the fourth straight year.

And next year ain't gonna be any better... I will lay heavy money on worse... Right now if I had the money I would be buying stocks in companies that produce security equipment. Home alarm systems and video surveillance equipment are going to be a necessity not a luxury if you have anything of value.

i trust myself and a 9mm over a 5 minute wait from the local police or ADT
It's like the USA has become a third world country over the last 15 years. People living doubled and tripled up in housing. I see brothers and sisters wearing the same clothing. One comes home from work, puts the clothes in the wash, the other one wears it the next day. NO, I'M NOT KIDDING.
I have a plan... In 2 years I'm outta here... IF I can make it that long.

I think you can tone down the exaggeration a little bit.
If you really want to see third world move to one. It may give you a bit of perspective as to how not even close America is to 3rd world.
I respect what you are saying in general but it's not that bad here. I would definitely take America over most other countries.

This is a direct product of our failing education system that is failing to educate and make the youth job ready.... and even if we were to fix things it will take a whole generation for things to correct itself

There's little 10 billion landscaping companies looking for help from young people ages 16-30 who are willing to work hard. There are tons, I repeat TONS of opportunities available painting, working at restaurants, sales, marketing jobs out there.
Get off your lazy asses and work. I just did a search of my zip code on Monster and Craigslist and there are tons of job postings fit for this age group. Tons of fall landscaping opportunities, tons of snow plowing / shoveling jobs for the winter.
Again, just because it is not your dream job that pays $50k a year behind a computer screen does not mean there is not work available.
