The day that the President became President, gasoline was $1.79 a
gallon. Look at what it is today. Under President Bachmann, you will see
gasoline come down below $2 a gallon again. That will happen.
I am wondering how Bachmann would bring gas prices down if she was elected president.
In December 2008, gas price was 1.79 a gallon
when President Obama was inaugurated gas price was 1.81
Gas price was 1.81 a gallon because there was a recession ( U.S and world wide) . Not because the U.S was pumping more oil, nor were the Saudis flooding the market with more oil.
gas price went from 4.05 a gallon (mid-july 2008 ) to 1.79 a gallon ( December 2008) because of supply and demand.

KOAJ, I respect your views (even though we disagree), and know that you make it a point to distance the Tea baggers from MB. The problem is, she is considered the tea bagger candidate by 95% of those who think they are Tea baggers. See, the problem is recruiting people who are below average in IQ. You end up with people like MB as your leader.
Very sad.

there is no recruitment, it just is. each TP is its own and they are not uniform in in their view nor their leadership. my local TP is meeting with the Tea Party Patriots group leaders this weekend. i have no interest so i'm not going. i and some others will be going to this https://lfnyc.com/ in a few weeks. most of my local TP thinks i'm a loon
the TP should be closer to libertarian, but 90% of them have facebook posts that have a pic of GW Bush asking "Miss me yet?"
they are unlearning 35+ years of public schooling, cnn, fox, msnbc brainwashing crap. they are learning about finance for the first time, the Fed, they still like bombing muslims and think they hate us for our freedoms
i try to have patience and just keep emailing articles, blogs, asking questions and getting them to find their own way over to the good guys

In all honesty what is the difference what gas prices are really. The Government knows people are willing to pay $3.50 a gallon. Let's say Bachman wins as President and lowers the gas price to $2 a gallon for sake of argument. There is $1.50 now that the States can tax and call it 'a road use tax'. Bottom line gas is still $3.50/gal.

govt already makes more on gas than oil companies (which only make in the 10c-15c range/gal). if bachman can somehow get the oil price to cut in half then maybe she really could be president. maybe her 2nd thing to do would be to magically disarm the middle east. and her 3rd thing would be to magically make food readily available for everyone in the world.
until that time (of getting oil prices to drop) her promise is no different than any other politician promising the impossible to get voters.

Good post.
I was thinking the other day when I read this how ironic it is because since gas prices are essentially impacted by external factors, the only way she could control the prices would be the governmental regulation she abhors.
