I've been part and experienced the past three elections, Clinton in 96, Bush in '00 and '04, and I can tell you I've never seen so many people so happy about electing a new US president.
 
Here at my work, that's all people talk. "Obama this" "Obama that"
 
People are happy today here. You can really tell.
 
When Bush won in '04, people were just doing their business and about 2-3 talked about it at my previous work.
Today is so different.
 
People on the streets celebrating.
 
Have you seen this before?
 
People are proud to be Americans today.

fwiw - people shouldnt be this happy about having a new "leader"

the country is about the individual, not the government. the government needs to get out of the way of the individual

I think this will ultimately end up hurting Obama.  Expectations are so extremely high it’s unlikely he will be able to live up to them.

Sit and wait for buyers remorse to set in, and find true fiscal conservatives to run in 2010 to retake the congress.

Doubt it. He will be replacing one of the worst presidents in a long time. I'm pretty sure he will do just fine.

i hope these folks are so excited because they are ready to work hard and get the economy back on track as opposed to some other, less industrious thoughts.

It's disgusting, and makes me want to puke.  Clueless kids and people that don't pay taxes ...  This guy is a master and brain washing, and it worked and got him elected as President.  To me, it's a sad day from America.  I really fear now for our National Security.

That was a pretty ignorant thing to say.  Say what you want about W., but no one (well, no logical person) can deny he has done a great job protecting America from those wishing to do it harm.  Over 2,500 days since a terrorist attack in the U.S.  I hope Obama can keep the streak going.

People must need to remember that this is a President, not a savior, he isn't going to give you a job, make you rich, like your neighbor, pay your mortgage, fill up your tank. Take care of your own shit and things will work out with whoever is running this country. Accountibility we call it, something many citizens here lost the ability to grasp decades ago. Our country's leader is going to do anything for you.

endless taxation is government slavery...even you helmut will be asked to pay your fair share which is more than you currently pay. you know...for change

figure your federal, state, property taxes, and rough est of sales tax you pay over the year. is it close to 50%? isnt it too much?

I've interacted with over a dozen people today &, oddly enough, It has not come up in conversation...........no one is bummed, no one seems excited. Almost like nothing happened last night.............strange.

In all fairness, I'm not a huge fan of Bush, however, he has kept this country safe by crushing Middle Eastern scum, terrorists. Since the attack on 9-11, we've been kicking ass and taking names, which is what our countrymen were whinning for in the first place when the twin towers were crashed into. Now, if Obama lets the foot off the killing pedal, let's hope there aren't more terrorist acts to follow. If so, they laugh will be on him, his supporters, and our country. Sort of a big, I told ya so. Time will tell.
