Well... I agree with you in the fact that Cleveland probably won't win. This should be a relatively close game that Houston wins by 3-5 points, so it's a really good line! I'm being cheap though and doing a 4.5 point teaser on this game though. This makes the line Houston -0.5 and Over 181.

Cleveland+8 is the call here. The spread was 5.5 and has already taken a dip, which of course drew my interest. Both teams come into this matchup 8-2 and playing well. This is Houston's first home game after a 3 game road trip wherein they beat Indiana, Milwaukee, and Minnesota.
Cleveland is playing very close games out of their last 5 games, with the exception being the Clippers by 14. Outside of that win the margin of the final scores has been 2.75 including a 6 point loss at Seattle.
Obviously, Houston has not been challenged by a good team in a while, and the two good teams that tey last played, the Warriors and Utah were very close games, with one ats win and one straight up loss (Utah). So reason has me believing that this game will be close as well. What team better to do that than Cleveland, a team that always seems to play close games. And with Cleveland going 2-1 straight up against Houston in the last three contests, you also have the real possibility of an upset win.
Yao will be playing a carbon copy of himself as Ziggy prefers to shoot jumpers too. Of course we have a criss cross with LeBron and T-Mac. This leaves the role players and benches to decide the game. With Gooden and Varejao out, Cleveland may go small a little more than usual, which is okay because they have Damon Jones on the pine. The Cavs are well rested, so their lack of depth won't show up in this game as it is the first road game after a two game home stand. That being considered, I expect the defensive pressure to be tremendous by both clubs, making this a low scoring, slug it out affair, with the stars taking over in the final quarter. Slight edge to LeBron because of his strength and ability to finish around the rim. Once Yao is out of the game, the Rockets don't have any shot blocking whatsoever. All in all this should be a great game to watch, but a nailbiter for those who don't like close games. As BigMoney says, I am comfortable wagering on close games, so i don't mind. Cleveland is a lot like Portland in the fact that they rarely blow any team out, and they rarely get blown out. For some reason their games always come down to the last few possessions. I'll take advantage of that trend and take the Cavs+8. I made my play tonight as the spread has already went down, and may creep lower still by the morning.

I never discount the possibility of a CLE SU win due to the LeBron factor. I saw him single handedly carry his team to victories over the Lakers and Blazers, not to mention they've beaten the Spurs in SA. LeBron is the factor that cannot be calculated with the numbers. there are times he wills his team to improbable victories and the Rockets may be better than the Blazers, but not the Lakers or Spurs. Give me LeBron and some points.

Apart from their March '06 visit (some strange anomaly, with the Cavs winning, and both teams scoring over 100), Cleveland has lost four straight at Houston, by an average of 17.2 points. They simply do not show up at the Toyota Center. Throw in that this is on TNT, and the Rockets are red glare hot, I would take Houston -5.5, and sit in comfort. Every drone about Vegas is savouring the thought of the Cavs upset here.
That rare win they did come away with was vs a Houston team without McGrady.
Heavy on Rockets Money Line, and a little bit, little bit on the spread.
Cleveland lays down on this one. Outside the distance of the three-point buying up.
Rockets 92 Cavaliers 82

Im with taunted on this one I think...no final decision made yet. Maybe im looking into public money too much but i find it strange that public is on cleveland and the line hasnt moved down much. The lebron factor is always a problem though, im leaning towards houston, I hate when theres only 3 NBA games...also considering taking tonight off completely....that probably wont happen, going to do somemore research

Also like the Cavs here. Have capped this game to be very close so will take Cleveland and the points.
Cleveland +6 (-1.15)
Also taking Miami and Chicago tonight.
Went 2-1 last night, winning on Indiana, Bulls and losing on Lakers. 6 wins, 2 losses for the week. Have now been on these forums for about a month now. Have handicapped and posted 40 plays and am up 6.4 units. Not sure if this is good or bad compared to everyone but it works for me! There is some great insight and discussion on these forums.
Good luck tonight.

Do the research guys, the last 8 games Cleveland has played on National Television they've beaten the spread. Nobody loves the spotlight like Lebron, Tmac has been sick with the flu lately, not to mention look at the last three teams Houston has played, they all suck. Houston has no answer for Lebron tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for 40, cause he might have to...
Might play ML closer to game, for now cavs +6

The Cavs are 14-9 Under as an underdog this season, and although I don’t put much stock into day of the week trends, Thursday trends may have some validity as most of the time Thursday games are big primetime matchups between two good teams and Cleveland is a strong 25-9 Under on Thursdays.
Houston is top 5 in the league in both ppg defense (93.4) and FG% defense (43.8%) and I expect this game to be a grinder much like the last seven meetings which have seen a 6-1 Under record with all seven games playing Under tonight’s posted total in regulation.
UNDER
I would also lean towards Cleveland (+) as an additional light opinion as both teams come into this game red hot at 13-3 SU in their last 16. Simply think this is a game that will come down to the last possession and love the Cavaliers’ 23-6 ATS road underdog record with Lebron in the lineup.

- Drew Gooden had an MRI on his strained right groin Wednesday, which
confirmed there is no tear to the muscle. He did not practice and the
Cavaliers are listing him as day-to-day. Gooden has not been ruled out of Thursday's game, but last year he suffered a similar injury and needed a few days to recover. - Tracy McGrady missed the Rockets shoot-around on Thursday with a
"severe upper respiratory infection", but he is "hopeful" to play in
Thursday's game. McGrady was being treated at a hospital, and we've already seen Yao Ming miss a game with a respiratory infection.
I'm leaning towards the Cavs here +5. King James on TNT never fails.

Today is Chinese Lunar New Year. Yao Ming is going off. No McGrady required. Rockets bench will expose just how shallow Cavs are of late. Throw Gooden in, slightly ailing or not - he's a non-factor. Break out your curries, chow mein, potstickers, etc. Rockets are even covering 5 tonight.
