It doesn't take long for them to come back own to the level of the Lions. I'm taking the Lions beause of the Giants pre-season track record. Hope they are getting points at home

Can't you just see the G-Men losing this one SU.

Remember boys, Lions have a new O Cordinator and will be trying out a new, more balanced attack on offense, with a priority on the run.
Ton of new players on defense as well.
Teams working on new systems rarely do well in the beginning. It will be a home for the Lions, but that amounts to about nothing.
The Lions have only 3 QB's in camp this year, and really want to develop Stanton and Orlovskey. Two young guys who don't play at all, Stanton was on IR all last year, didn't even play in the pre-season.
Will have to wait and see what kind of nicks and dings some of the players have during training camp before I decide on anything.
Don't know the spread, but can see the Lions being a 3-4 point favorite.......any more than that, and I would be on the Giants.
Once I see how training camp goes, I will jump back in here with my thoughts.

I don't think Coughlin will risk anything here. Will be happy just to look at a lot of new players and get out of the Motor City without any major injuries.

Detroit - 20 New York - 14
Lions under 35

Thank You PocketJacks. Further review #2 indicates the Lions are not putting a whole lot of focus on wining games during the pre-season. Add the fact the Marinelli is 0 - 6 ATS as a favorite.
Take the Super Bowl Champs to win this one by default.

Marinelli talking about the Lions scrimmage this past weekend and the Giants coming up..........on the right hand side of this article is some of the pre-season position battles.

Colletto won't react to the scoreboard in the exhibition season. He plans to use the games to get ready for the regular season.
"We're
going to force the issue," he said. "Everybody worries about records.
Say you went 0-4. Everybody's on a downer. Preseason doesn't mean
diddly. We're going to come out one of these games and run the
two-minute offense in the middle of the second quarter for no rhyme or
reason other than to practice against somebody else.
"You've
got to use the preseason games to get better at some of the things
you're doing. You've got to find out what you can and can't do. Let's
say we're not running real well. We'll keep trying to run it so they'll
learn what they're trying to do.
"We're not going to go in
there and throw it all over the lot to try to win every game, to be
fancy and do trick plays and all that."
Take the Giants and the points.

Detroit seems to have a huge inferiority complex and you just have to wonder to what lengths they might go to, to beat the Super Bowl champs even if it is preseason; despite what headoverheart quotes above.

I like the Giants because of depth. Their defense because of their setup. 4th qtr the defense will still be a problem for lions. They only have to cover 3 points.
Good teams win games, Great teams cover the spread!

I'm thinking of a two game teaser with over 26 here and over 28 in the NE game...I can never tell how the preseason will work out, I think I have a better shot with the over under then picking the winner...
