listen up HOMERS. i LIVE IN OKLAHOMA. u get it!?!?!? i kinda know more than 90% of the posters on here that don't watch ou on a regular basis. I've only seen almost every ou game since 1995. but here's the kicker...I'm an ou and texas fan. so I don't buy into the typical trailer trash mentiality of "go boomer sooner" "I'm going to pound ou no matter what...."
having said that look at my previous posts and i called ou not to cover big time the past 2 games. i basically wrote the script for the ou @ cincy game.
Here's the scenario.....It's going to be VERY hard to pick a side on this game.
1) both teams are OVERATED. ou is not going to a natl title game. ou really doesn't look like they are going to a bcs bowl game either. neither ou or texas looks like they are going to finish in the top 10 this year. maybe #'s 11 & 12 respectively, but definately not top 10.
2) Texas is coming off a loss. get it? texas is not a bad team by any means just because they lost to UCLA. that easily could have been ou losing to cincy. OU is clearly overated by blowing out florida st. Florida st is definately not that bad compared to ou. ou just had a great day and FSU just tanked it. Texas is going to be fired up for this one.
3) there is no clear cut home field advantage. I know u may read about this "it's a neutral field...blah blah blah..." it's crap. ou still has to travel to a different state and texas doesn't. overall, there is no homefield advantage, but don't think for a sec that ou traveling isn't a factor. ou just isnt' the same if they have to leave norman. don't let anyone tell u different.
4) both teams are EVENLY MATCHED. both teams are breaking in new qbs and both teams are having down years for them. Yeah, i know that ou is undefeated, but it's a shaky undefeated. OU has the edge due to landry jones playing basically a FULL 1.5 years so far as opposed to texas's qb that hasn't played a full season ...yet.
having said that.....ou has to be favored. the lines haven't even come out yet. I'm thinking it will be ou -6.5. it should be ou -3 if vegas just wants to screw with your minds.
personally, i'm not betting either side because i know better. unless u have seen texas or ou play at least THREE TIMES don't be so adamant to pick a side. this game is literally a toss up either way. I'm pounding the UNDER on this one. the 1st half is probably going to be a chess match and will tell u what the total is headed towards. I'm hedging my bet with 80% under and 20% over. overall, i'm thinking that ou will win straight up due to playing a much tougher strength of schedule so far. I know some texas moron will say...."but what about texas over texas tech?" texas just got blown out by ucla and OU blew out fsu so ou clearly is > texas based on schedule.
do urself a favor and listen to someone that actually likes both teams and watches these 2 teams play on a regular basis. take the under.
Key note: watch out for ou HOMERS like joe washington. this kids likes to diss but rarely plays anyone but ou. his credibility is shot big time. and look to see if anyone called for ou to cover the last 2 games. yeah, I muffed up on ou v utah state, but i called it big time on ou's last 2 games and even the local experts in okahoma muffed those up.
