While I have not seen NIU, I have seen Purdue....for years. After the Oregon game I look for Purdue to blow out NIU. I can't believe the line is not closer to -15 or -16. The line may be kept a little lower here due to Purdue not pulling out the win last weekend at Oregon. For those of you who watched that game, Purdue f'd themselves which led to 14 points directly and another 3 point indirectly. I look to that to be fixed this week as well as an improving defense. Purdue scores early and often in this one as NIU won't know what's coming from Purdue's offense...a theme that will continue for the rest of the year. Boilers -12

Purdue was very impressive in a loss on the road against Oregon. Despite 2 defensive touchdowns and the loss of absolutely all the momentum, they still fought back to become within a 2pt conversion in the final seconds. Senior quarterback Joey Elliot understands how to play the position and will be poised for a comeback at home. He looked like a NFL quarterback on the potential game tying drive (missed 2 pt conversion), escaping the pocket, making throws on the run, and even making plays with his feet.
NIU doesn't have nearly as strong a defense as Oregon, a team that held boise st to 19 pts on the blue turf. At first glance NIU's loss to Wisconsin 28-20 may seem competitive but that game was 28-6 in the fourth quarter with NIU doing all its scoring once the result had been decided.
Purdue will keep them off balance all day i see them winning by 17-24 points.

I'm leaning towards NI in this one, they seem to play the big ten tough and everyone is judging Purdue by what they did in Oregon. I don't know if I would do that or not. Oregon does not seem to have the fire they had after the big fight and the removal of one their best players. I look for NI to cover, but Purdue will probably have enough to win this one

If Northern Ill was playing Oregon they would be a bigger favorite than -11.5 and I believe we all saw besides a few mistakes that can be fixed, Purdue was the better team.

I think the line already is already taking into consideration Purdue's "look ahead" with Notre Dame next week.
Statistically speaking, they have the worst defense of the two teams, but does Northern Illinois have enough offensive power to stay with the Boilmakers?
In the game against Wisconsin, NIU were losing 28-6 coming into 4th quarter, and then they scored two TD's for the cover.

Took Purdue in the 1st half here, Think they jump on UNI early and coast...

Me thinks the same. Purdue's offense will be fine and I also look for Purdue's defense in this one to be up. They've got a lot to prove and I think we'll see one of the better outings of the year for the defense today. They playing a very similar offense as Oregon runs but not nearly the speed.
Purdue -6.5 in first half & Purdue -12.5 game
