As an OSU fan, kinda wish they were playing a team with a more traditional offense to warm-up for the USC game. Not sure how much good its going to do their defense to play a team running the option.

Yea, really------the Middies might keep this one around 21 points.
The clock will be running and a few mistakes by both teams and
you might end up with a 31 - 10 type of game...

A couple things to keep in mind about Navy this year is, one, they no longer have the 3-headed monster of Kaipo Enhada, Eric Kettani and Shaun White running that triple option.  Two, last year Navy led the country in rushing, but it was the first year without head coach Paul Johnson who implemented the OFF their so it could have been a residual effect.  Expect their production to drop significantly this year.  Also, the Buckeyes will be opening it up down field a lot more this year like in '06 and '07 so, expect more scoring, particularly in the red zone where they have stalled out so many times and have had to settle for FG's.  I may buy this down to 21, but I still like it as is.

MY GUESS, THROW A LOT OF PASSES, RUN A LOT OF ROUTS AND WORK ON BLOCKING SCHEMES. WE ALL KNOW THAT YOU HAVE TO SCORE POINTS TO BEAT USC.
SO I GUESS I LAY THE 20 SUMPTIN' WHICH I WOULD NEVER DO IN YEARS PAST ON THE FIRST BUCKEYE GAME OF THE YEAR.

The Bucks have a hard time covering in the first game almost every year......and now they have one of the toughest little teams that nobody respects in the country coming into the shoe, the week before the only game that matters till Michigan!!!!(no disrespect to Penn St.)   Take the points and be happy that the Bucks don't show too much and are more fucussed on the following week when they could jump on a USC team that has more questions and concerns to answer than any other year that Pete has been out there. 
 
Bucks win......but they are covering 3 TD's on Navy.

This is not last year's Navy, and this is not the OSU of old! They have a mobile and athletic QB and their defense will stop any possible run attack that Navy can throw at them. Navy lost their QB, RB (Shun White), and their only go to receiver. Again, this is not the Navy of the past two years.
 
OSU covers by 30.

This line is a little too low to love the dog, but I've seen it time and time again - the Vest plays it close to the vest, plays conservatively early on, doesn't want to show USC anything they can use, and goes out of his way to show respect especially to a service academy.
 
My alma mater OSU 27-10 rather unimpressively

bad spot to cover 3 tds on opening day (OSU is 1-6 ATS the last 7 homers and 0-5 ATS in September), also against a non traditional offense and lets not forget the looming USC game that very next week... None of this spells blow out and I would not doubt if the total was right around 40.  

OSU - 27 NAVY- 14

+21.5 is really a good value bet-  1-5 ATS last year at home... why go against the winning trend???

I haven't posted in quite a while but I can't wait for kickoff. Bucks gotta get pumped up and walk all over Navy to get ready for next week. This will be a big indication of how this new squad will be this year. Whole lot of new personnel but TP's been a beast from what I'm hearing. Already Heisman talk but I'm not sold yet. Should be a lot of fun to watch! Taking my boys of course but I'm obviously biased!

The Buckeyes never cover these types of games easily under Tressel.He's too much of a gentleman to run up the score against the Northwestern's and Minnesota's of the Big Ten,so there is no chance that he comes anywhere close to running it up vs. a service Academy. Then consider that Navy's coach has said the only way for them to compete against teams like this is to limit their touches by letting that clock roll..........UNDER BIG TIME, coach is too much of a gent for anything else.......GO BUCKS!

I couldn't agree more.......and Navy has been an 8+ win per year team for like the last 6 years........Well before the arrival of that "three headed monster" that people keep pointing out.  It is a system offense that is run by some of the brightest and best young men in the country.......they will have 3 new "monsters" to do the work and they will move the ball on anybody they face in the country.  Go back and look at were they finished in the country running the football over the last 10 years.........Ohio St. will certainly win this game.......but they aren't covering 3 TD's.

I like OSU in this. Navy lost their 3 best offensive players in the offseason. I also think Terrell Pryor is going to be special this year and make a run at the Heisman. I see OHIO STATE getting up big early and coasting the rest of the way. The best part about that is Navy has no passing offense at all. So don't be surprised to see OSU put up some points on defense when they're already up by 3 td's.

Going against my rule here: Ususally when they throw that 1/2 point a touchdown total (21 and 1/2) i like to take the favorite, but I'm hoping Bucks start slow and Navy holds the ball.  Get a score and i am up 4+ touchdowns.  So Navy and under....

As an OSU fan my feelings about this game are they could cover the 20-21 pts but most likely they won't. Just to let you know I'm not betting this game for $$$. Others have already mentioned about Tress and his respect for a service academy factor. But here's another reason why, he loves to play everyone you will see a lot of different looks all over the field. TP won't play the whole 2nd Qtr you will see the backup QB he said it yesterday on his call in show. He also mentioned there would be a lot of mixing in on the oline. If they would happen to be losing I would doubt we would see Bauserman though. I expect them win and they have the talent to cover if the coach wanted to pummel them into the ground with his best players all game. Tress has too much respect to hit the nitro Bucks win 31-16.

I couldnt agree with you more bucksfan001.  Threre will be alot of pressure on tress to not run it up especialy with the youtube video that got so much attention calling for fans not to boo navy.  Also tress is kind of old fashion in the fact that he does not like to show the playbook before big games.  Finally navys triple option attack is done with alot of chop block schemes. While legal they tend to result in alot of bumps and bruises on opposing defenses knees.  The second Ohio gets a comfortable lead, the second string comes in, and may give up some points to a tricky offense. Bucks win but iam going to stay away from this one.
