this is probably the gift of the week... definitely should be on your card as a best bet...
CMU owned the MAC last year, but got trounced (like last week) every time they went on the road to play a BCS conference school...
Ohio comes off their A effort and gets a big cover, while CMU gets (predictably) blown out against a Georgia team that plays too much defense...
well, this will be a much different story... CMU will rally, knowing their real season starts this week... while Ohio will be flat after letting a possible huge upset get away in the 4th...
people are over-valueing Ohio and under-valueing CMU... get it down to 3 if you can, but 3.5 should still work...

I'm on the opposite.... I'll take Ohio with it's undervalued defense and being at home... this team is underrated, I'll take the 3.5 but with that D I don't think I'll need it... CMU has owned the MAC the last 2 years and the way Ohio is playing right now, I'll take 'em... The streak ends this weekend with an Ohio Victory! Sharp

sharp, that would definitely be an upset... maybe Ohio is better than i give them credit for... i can't really see anything that tells me they are significantly better than where they were last year... and i'm sure CMU is still gonna be at the same level or higher, with Lefevour at the helm...
we'll see... i remember CMU getting these short lines alot in the MAC last year and i'm pretty sure they covered all or all but 1...

Cent Mich (-2.5)
Alright Shepherd, I'm looking at this line and not sure what to think..I know without a doubt that Central will make a run at the MAC championship this year, but I'm not sure that they are hitting on all cylinders yet this year. This looks a lot like last year when they started 1-2 SU/ATS before losing at N. Dakota St before getting on a roll once they got into the meat of their MAC schedule.
CMU QB Dan LeFevour is the real deal and will be embarrassing teams by mid-October, but he is falling short right now. He is passing well in these first two games, but he is struggling on the ground which is where is has learned how to burn teams: Georgia: 19 yds on 4 attempts. E ILL. 42 yds on 11 attempts. Last year he averaged 65+ yds a game on the ground.
Not sure if it will come into play, but Central is heading back to Purdue next week. This will be their 3rd meeting in the past year.Purdue beat Central with a last second field goal to win the Motor City bowl the day after Christmas.Central might be interested in taking advantage of a tired Purdue team after they play Oregon this Saturday. A possible look-ahead situation for CMU.
Ohio was one quarter away from upsetting the #3 team in the nation last week. It was probably a look-ahead game for OH St, but they could have easily lost if Ohio would have just held on to the ball (1 Fumble and 4 Interceptions). Ohio will be playing at home for the first time this year and coming off the huge game which is going to make this game hard to cap.
More research is needed, but looking at no-play right now with the line. Maybe take a look at the total. Haven't been able to find one yet.

nice write up buddy..
i find it very hard to believe that ohio can give that much emotion in their loss to osu and get fired up for this game.. i believe this is a rematch of the mac championship a couple years ago (2 years?? 3??) also, since '02, cmu is 4-1 ATS in MAC openers..

lots of posts for a game that isn't on many radars, I like it. I agree with Shep, that Ohio is overvalued right now. The game against OSU was their superbowl, and they let it slip away. CMU QB is solid and I think this is a small line for the game, thought it would be closer to 7. I will lay the points on this one.

interesting point... i remember all last year seeing lines with CMU that seemed too small, right in this range... even at home sometimes... i bet most of them, and i always wondered if i was betting into a trap...
but they almost always covered... for whatever that's worth... you would think the books and the public would make an adjustment, but here we are again... so here i am still betting on it and still thinking i might be betting into a trap...

Shepard and gang........I really liked your reasons for going with Cen. Mich here as I also won a ton of $$$ on them last year during their MAC schedule. But my line has gone up to 3 1/2 and I am not sure that I like Cen. Mich on the road by more than a FG? Thoughts?

ohio played good last week but you know what osu brought their C game if that. which is why they are getting 10.5 this weekend. ohio is usually a team that osu rolls over and stomps on. central mich will win by more then 10 points.

Love this play for those very reasons. That and I caught LeFevour last year. Love the kid, he alone should keep CMU in the win column in their conference this year.

Everybody, you are forgetting that the QB for OHIO is OUT for this weeks game! The black kid that could move got his shoulder hurt and he was very dangerous. He isnt playing and C MICH wins this one BIG, honestly. Dont waste your money on Ohio. I like OHIO to so this is objective.

Agreed, QB play will be the difference in this one. CMU.

I just noticed CollegeSharp and Shepherd are on opposites on this one. These two are picking very well right now so I almost want to pass on this game now!

Golfisch, where did you see he wasn't playing, been all over the wire and haven't seen anything about that? Great info if correct. Sharp

I just want to let you guys know that I don't know if I'll be posting after Friday. I live in Houston and looks like might be riding out Hurricane Ike for a couple of days... and that stinks because I won't have any power and won't be able to catch these games or even know what's going on. I don't know which is worse, riding out a hurricane or not knowing if I'm up or down until Monday or Tuesday... eeeeeeekkkkkkk!!
