I rarely get a chance to post in the CBB forum but I really like this total for tonight.
Pittsburgh @ Duquesne
THE PLAY: OVER 155
As a local guy from the Pittsburgh area I have been eagerly awaiting this total to come out. This is just around the number I thought would be released and I must say I really like this over. As a season ticket holder of the Panthers I have got to see them live every game this year. Let me tell you, if you have not seen them yet this year they are not the team you are used to seeing from the past few years. They are a smaller, but much faster team. Fields runs the point at a very up-tempo pace, Sam Young is coming into his own this year. Also, since I am from the area I do pay a lot of attention to the Duquesne Dukes. I'm sure many of you remember the streak of Overs that hit last year in Duquesne games. They play a very up tempo game with a constant full court press. Many people will be looking to play the Under as past matchups between these teams have been dominated by Pitt and playing their half court sets. This year will be quite different game. The pace should be quite exciting to watch.
Here are a few quotes from an article from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette title "Pitt read to match Duke's Up-tempo style"...
"The Duquesne Dukes have piqued the curiosity of basketball fans across the country with their mass substitution, up-tempo style that has successfully worn down many opponents the past two seasons.
The Dukes like to run the fastbreak on offense and play a full-court pressure defense. The frantic, run-and-gun style has led to the Dukes' best start in 25 years and a gaudy 92.3 scoring average.
But the Dukes are not the only team in the city with a desire to play at a fast tempo.
Pitt has changed its personality this season. The Panthers have transformed themselves from a rugged team that liked to play in the half court to a team that likes to take advantage of their transition opportunities. That has been evidenced in their 84.0 scoring average and their 30-point average margin of victory through seven games."
..."If the players have their way, this contest could be one of the highest scoring in the history of this intense city rivalry."
..."Pitt has showed little interest in playing the slow-down game. The Panthers have been held below 78 points once this season -- in the third game against Saint Louis. The Billikens forced Pitt into a slow-down game, but the Panthers still managed to win, 69-58, proving they play any type of game and still be successful."
Looking at a few stats to go along with this article... Pitt is averaging 84 Points Per game and shooting 48.4%. Duquesne is averagin 92.3 points per game and shooting 49.2% from the field. At home Duquesne are averaging 99.3 ppg and shooting 55.6% from the field in 3 games. This game is a rivalry between two schools just minutes away from eachother. The players will be looking to play a high paced high scoring game. I see this going well over the total.
Good Luck

I agree...line is climbing. local gave me 155 about to play it...Pitt will handle the press enough, just hopefully not too easily as to where the Dukes come out of it like in the 2nd half of last game...

Line showed 154.5 - went to place over wager "line updated...155" probably won't make any difference but it seems like I get hit with a couple of those every day!
Line is at 159 now...thanks for the write-up. Hopefully they continue to run and gun.

PC ... whats up bud... wish i was at home in the AJ tonight to see blair vs james but o well
I think your right on track with the over. Dixon switched his style once grey left and i was at this game last year and pitt controlled the game... Duq tends to have a slow start but vs pitt they will get up early.. i wouldn't doubtit if duq was only down 2 or up as much as 6 at half but pitt will get them second half... i can see a 70's game but this over will be real close... good luck bud

Genmills I agree.. I think the Dukes will keep it close. Honestly don't know why I just have that gut feeling this will be a close game. I actually like the Dukes w/ the points but like I said that's just a gut feeling. I'm hoping for a game in the mid 80's... We will see though
