Why do you people post plays but never any reasoning behind them?

I click on threads and all I see is selections..

no reasoning, no explanations, no write ups.

I want to know why

It's tough to expect write ups in basketball for daily cappers.  Most guys play games every day and they play multiple games on top of that.  To expect a writeup each day is just not gonna happen.

In football I agree with you though, picks should come with write ups.  You have a week to make your picks, Im sure you can make time to explain those picks during the week.  But basketball, baseball and hockey.......it's too much to ask.

I just feel the goal here should be to make money and help out other people on the forum

kjr - I also appreciate at least some reason for a particular selection. A pick on its own is of no value to me.

I agree 100%. I try to do writeups when I can, but its just nor feasible on a daily basis for me. Most of the write ups boil down to this:

1) Matchups (players, def/off, rebounding)

2) Home/away

3) Other angles/situations (lookaheads/sandwich games/injuries/letdowns)

 

So, all plays are some combo of the above. Most of the time its unnecessary to tell people whos at home, who the good players are and whos been hot. Pointing out situations is often helpful because they can be overlooked if you are stuck in the present. College hoops requires you to know your history and be able to see the short term future a little more clearly than others....

Reasoning is still to be taken with a grain of salt.  Just posting publically available stats is not "reasoning" IMO.  If somebody has some greater insight to a game (detailed injury report, anticipated play-time of a key player, how teams matchup against each other), then it's worth the write-up.

People on boards like these don't get paid to give their insights, and are under no obligation to do so.  And, like was already stated, some (most) people are capping several to many games on any given day.

Write-up != winning play.  You shouldn't be making your picks based on other peoples picks, anyway.  It's how most everybody start out in the betting world, but you will quickly see that it doesn't pay off in the long run.

because this is the easiest way to get a general idea of what everybody is on and then bet the other side

Almost forgot the write up....

Buffalo will get a big lead in this game, then Kent St will catch up and it will go to overtime where K State will go ahead by 5, then Buffalo ties it up with 19 sec left....K State hits a 2 spot for the win BUT Buffalo puts $$ in your pocket....

Some guy tonight did 3 writeups, ok 2.5, and went 3-0 with good explanations. They're out there.

I for 1, just started posting my plays and showing my YTD results every time. I dont really expect anyone to follow, its your choice. My record good or bad will speak for itself if you choose too!
