#9 Posted: 11/22/2011 2:59:04 AM bware and capdatazz are both right. Try betting mostly underdog teams or watch the 1st half of a game and bet on the 2nd half. But its all about money management. |

It is normal for 95+% of gamblers to lose in the long-run. Just get used to being normal. Or you can make a ridiculous claim that you are one of 5% of people that makes a living playing poker or betting on sports. There are enough dumb people that actually think winning at gambling is commonplace. |

#17 Posted: 11/22/2011 3:48:24 AM This is my first season in NCAAB and I hardly know garbage about most college teams, yet I've been winning at a 64% clip and have already doubled my bankroll.
After reading nearly all the threads of the NCAAB forum, I have a pretty good idea of who are the better cappers, so I copy/paste the comments/picks of my targeted top cappers onto a Word doc.
I add in any previews that Covers has, both of the written kind and of just plain stats. I add in the defensive stats and the ATS stats. I check out the Covers experts for any comments that they may have, but I don't always follow their picks... I just glean the raw data from them.
I keep track of where the comments come from by bolding/coloring the respective poster's handles with each comment that I paste in, and I put in "See #4" for the game-specific references/data that are numbered.
I mainly bet flat, SU bets, but I sometimes do two-team parlays on two strong bets, plus ML bets on strong dogs that look like that they could win SU. Gotta love those +8, +10 dogs that win SU!
I lost track of how many units that I'm up, but I've already doubled my bankroll since the start of the basketball season, so I'm pretty happy with the results so far.
There are some really great cappers in Covers!
Good cappers may give clues, but it's up to you to dig in further and find the relevant information to back up those clues or to red-flag them.
Today I followed blindly by taking goddamn Memphis at -5... I didn't have the time to cap this early-day pick and I failed to check with my usual list of top cappers, so I just grabbed them.
garbage, man, that cost me a unit! If I had done my usual careful research, I'd have taken those skinny-assed white Michigan boys ML at +5. Damn.
Tail, but tail smart, not blindly.

What you are doing is inconsistent. You don't have a system and it seems you are betting not for the fun of it either.
You are a loser because of this. You should check to see if all these handicappers have the same bet - maybe try and just go for that 1 bet where they have the same suggestion.
My selections are based on what I see, stats, players ability, team ability, bookie tricks and most importantly, MY INSTINCT.
I normally take huge money lines in the "Bookie Trick" Games by saying "darn those bookies - what would they know". Yeah I have swagger coz Im confident.

That's cool, Spooker.
I'm still new at this and I'm tired of the time-consuming work that it takes for me to find my relevant stats to cap the games, so do you have favorite sites with which to quickly find data?
I'd love to have a site that has a searchable system where I'd simply type in the name of the team, and bam, all the relevant data pops out -- there are sites out there that offer that, right?

#20 Posted: 11/22/2011 7:57:07 AM This is my advice. You need to pick out a few good capper that you trust and just read thier threads. Do not get caught up into reading everyone threads because you will get too manny different opinions. Just trust in the few good cappers you have picked. To find a good capper, look at the numbers of views and look at thier records. Some cappers have alot if views but thier records aren't very good. I just cut them out. Right now oddbuster is on doing very good. And I love to play happykane |

#21 Posted: 11/22/2011 8:00:37 AM Mojo plays. Besides them I try not to read too many threads. It just clouds your judgement. Don't fall for the trap of "poy" or "biggest bet ever" from random cappers. They normally are losers. Most of the time they give the game that look "too good to be true" and you know what happens in those game. |

#23 Posted: 11/22/2011 8:04:09 AM Cut down on the numbers of games you play and hit them hard when one of those cappers put out a pick that they love. |
